Turkey is proposing to criminalise homosexuality in its 11th Judicial ‘reform’ package. Time for European countries to step up with grants for grass roots NGOs in Turkey. Support is needed to challenge this now. The legal reforms are linked to EU aid - so officials in the EU and Embassy of EU to 🇹🇷

I’d be tempted to gender neuter it :) and put a word in the translator’s notes. It is a dilemma though, of the sort when unacceptable phrases or idioms pop up that are racist or homophobic. There’s a whole book of poems by one poet I don’t translate from because I’m ashamed of his racist book title

The Starmer government is REALLY running scared of this petition, now at 2.75 million, to the extent that it has responded 3 months early, in a transparent attempt to spike it.

So please, under no circumstances should you sign it and share it widely. Starmer & his boss McSweeney would not like it.

This is actually a tragic picture of a tree in an abandoned Kurdish village high in the mountains.Blackened by a chemical attack in the nineties. We really need to stop freshening wounds of generations to come. I think we are all sick of war and deprivation, ecocide. Boycott, strike, spend wisely? 🌻
