This made my day - keep the music playing!
🙄
A man was arrested for playing Darth Vader's theme music, "The Imperial March," behind National Guard troops walking through Logan Circle.

Now the ACLU is suing on his behalf. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
Frankly, this is freaking BRILLIANT!
As a parent at a Title 1 high school, where our food and clothes pantry receives donations from the community including churches, THANK YOU! 75% of our kids are economically disadvantaged - more as the govt shutdown continues. We are fortunate to have church supporters.
Not to mention possible violations of EPA & other laws re: air & water quality as all that lead, asbestos, etc. is not being contained & mitigated from the looks of it. See also: Natl Environmental Policy Act & Natl Historic Preservation Act. So much potential to sue. Altho too late to save it.
More than dubious. Illegal and inhumane. Sigh.
You know what would be a fun distraction, and cost a lot less than wholesale demolition of a historic landmark? The Grindr files.

If the National Guard is really in D.C. to protect federal
property, they should probably have been at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. two days ago
EXACTLY my thought! Trump is doing what the 9/11 terrorist wanted to do.
Next we'll add a guest house to the West wing and raise the Russian flag over it?
If the construction contract for rhe ballroom went to a Russian or Chinese company, I will officially quit this timeline.
Also, yes, previous Presidents have followed the legal and administrative processes to build and renovate. Nit to demolish without any consultation or oversight.
It's too late - the East Wing has been destroyed. But this a good thread for the record - and trials? - about how the process is supposed to work. From the people who know.
We’ve received a lot of questions about Trump’s demolition of the White House East Wing.

Here’s how the process is supposed to work:

THANK YOU for your crucial, in-depth reporting!!
It is horrifying. And sad. But anyone else also wondering how the HELL this project is moving so fast?! I mean, it took the contractor weeks just to demo my tiny bathroom/kitchen for a simple reno. The company is like "quick, before anyone notices!"
Brilliant!
Reminiscin’ this’n that and havin’ such a good time. Oo-De-Lally, Oo-De-Lally golly what a day.
Wishing the Coast Guard put that contract put to bid - even in normal times, that process can drag on for a year. Or better yet, wishing CG said "no."
