Thanks for sharing! Going to add this to my to-read pile.
Also, on the subject of bosses, Bruce, Barbara, Sylvia, Susan, Gail, and Louise, my eternal gratitude, I learned from the best.

Yvonne, you were the worst, but I learned from you to jingle my keys/wear clicky heels so people know I'm coming. 😂
My co-workers put together a whole spread and lovely card for me and the other managers for Bosses' Day. 🥰

(They didn't have to! And I'm thrilled.)

"If your child can't spell their full name, or remember your address you are doing something wrong as a parent!"
"Half of them shouldn't be on the road!"
The funniest thing that happened in our family today was that my husband was at the parent/child portion of Oldest's driver's ed class and the instructor used that time to read the room to filth.

"Parents! Stop hiding from your children! Some of them don't even know their address!"

People who avoid "city driving" make their annual trek to Raleigh, and collide with the NC DOT's many creative variations of exits that require zipper merges.
The State Fair has begun, which also marks the start of ten days of absolutely terrible work commutes.

The makings of a VERY JOLLY EVENING, I suspect
The cover of a mid to late 1960s edition of the Cokesbury Games Book by Arthur Depew. The cover has somewhat trippy magenta and orange stripes and dots.
And a lot easier to access and use than cigarettes.
Yes. Vaping is a huge issue at my kids' middle and high schools.
'Kids' is doing a lot of heavy lifting.
Did none of them watch Triangle of Sadness?
Maybe an abridged or simplified version? I read it at 9 or 10 and Lovecraft's writing is way more florid than I remember.
Sometimes I think I must have imagined this, but it was so scary for me at the time that the story is burned in my brain.
Can anyone help me locate a horror story that I read as a kid?

It's about a young man who inherits a house in the country. The house has a boarded-up room that the man opens and releases a half-man, half-amphibian creature that is tiny at first and then starts eating larger and larger things.
Sorry for your loss. 💔

Get you a friend like @tudoraf.bsky.social, who will take you to a spot where you can both touch grass & photograph glass

Bernard Horwich JCC (rear)
Architect: Epstein & Sons, 1960
Color photo of the back of a two story light tan brick box of a building with a flat roof, taken from across a grassy field. The facade is enlivened by a large expanse of vertically oriented glass block in different colors. Color close-up of the expanse of glass block in the previous photo reveals that the glass is not just in different colors, but also different sizes and textures. An even closer color photo of the glass blocks, detailing the different sizes, orientations, textures and colors of the glass block.
