i feel like if a comics publisher owns some of the film/tv adaptation rights to a comic they publish, then by definition, that comic can’t be creator-owned, right? does that seem correct to you guys?

When I’m reviewing comics publishing contracts, one of the key things I look at are the media rights sections. Personally, I don’t think publishers deserve a single penny from media rights. But, they keep asking for more and more, often asking for 50/50 split of the option fee.

You ever just have to pay $6,800 all of a sudden? That's how much the yard cleanup is gonna cost. He'll do a good job though, and that'll be a big weight of our shoulders (to be replaced with the weight of credit card debt)
