Thanks! Also has to do with the size of the gist (ie amount of info) you can keep in STM at any moment in time.. Is there something like that going on in wave information?
Are there any videos or proceedings of the 2024 summer school, or related papers?
@earlkmiller.bsky.social Does this say something about change blindness?
Roughly 42 million people are at risk of losing critical food assistance in Nov. amid the federal government shutdown. I imagine at least 20 million are MAGA. (20 million is clearly more than 7 million who participated in No Kings.) I wonder how Trump, MAGA will respond?

Huge congratulations @johanneskleiner.bsky.social ! I am excited to follow and participate in BAMXi’s contributions to #ConSci!
It is an enormous pleasure—and a dream, really—to share that the University of Bamberg has approved an initiative dedicated to mathematical approaches in #ConSci. The initiative is called Bamberg Mathematical Consciousness Science Initiative, or BAMΞ for short.

Brave folks! Our heroes!
Proud to talk about defending the Constitution in front of the Capitol this week.

We are seeing the greatest assault on our freedoms of our lifetimes. The shredding of the Constitution must stop. The lawlessness must stop.
And Congress can and must stop it.
Federal workers are speaking out on how the Trump regime is harming Americans:

"We stand here today at a moment of the greatest assault of our lifetimes on our freedoms. The US Constitution is being shredded... We are here to call on Congress to stand up and stop it."

that they left em masse, at least, seems like a good sign
NEW for @washingtonpost.com:

Pentagon reporters exited the building in unison Wednesday after turning in their badges, having refused to sign the Defense Department's press policy.

@nancyayoussef.bsky.social called it a “sad day for those who support a free press.”
Reporters leave Pentagon en masse after refusing to sign on to new rules
After turning in their press credentials, journalists covering the Defense Department walked out rather than comply with its restrictive new policies.

An ice sculpture of the word “Democracy” has been placed on the National Mall in direct view of the U.S. Capitol as a vanishing reminder, its creators said, of rapidly eroding rights and an existential threat to the freedom on which America was founded.
On the National Mall, ‘Democracy’ drips in daylight
Ben Cohen, of Ben & Jerry’s, helped bring a 3,000-pound ice sculpture to the capital as a warning that “democracy is melting away before our very eyes.”

Happy Birthday to our dear friend and colleague Dana Scott!
Happy Birthday Dana Stewart Scott! Scott received the 1976 #ACMTuringAward along with Michael O. Rabin, for their joint paper "Finite Automata and Their Decision Problem," which introduced the idea of nondeterministic machines. amturing.acm.org/award_winner...
Would love to see this develop into a more formal computational model where one could prove results, etc.
Important paper, thanks! I’ve been looking for such quantifiable, rather than speculative, arguments, re the computational power of oscillations. Via simulations, they show that recurrent oscillatory networks are as powerful computationally as standard networks but better wrt a number of criteria.

Well, this aged well. Unfortunately.

(Except for the part where @jimmykimmel.com said he thought I was higher up on Donald Trump's enemies list than he was.)
