Maybe, but wouldn't you like your average highly skilled immigrant visa holder to be able to sweet talk the locals through complex literary allusions?

AO1: Articulate informed, personal and creative responses to literary texts, using associated concepts and terminology, and coherent, accurate written expression.
AO2: Analyse ways in which meanings are shaped in literary texts.
Etc...

I hate to sound churlish but his first intervention in numbers is to ignore the numbers in the expert review of prostate cancer screening in favour of emotive and misleading arguments which are likely to cause harms. So he's not even good at real life maths.

Great news for immigrants from (former) commonwealth countries where English is an official language. Good thing there is no major prejudice against Asians and Africans in recent political rhetoric.

There's new contractors coming on board here all the time to work on pharma data, where are they from? The NHS, NICE, academia... the public sector has a major data specialist brain drain going on and it's only going to get worse.

What should worry government and the health service is that people get paid a lot more for working on this problem in the private sector than the public. So those digital NHS records and that computer system we all want, the people you need to build it won't be taking a 50% paycut to do so.

Part of my job is to help the organisation ensure its data is AI ready. It's a surprisingly hard problem even if your data is organised, clearly labelled and compliant with regulatory standards.

Labour had huge problems with some of the mayoral referenda though - a lot of people don't like the way things are but dislike change even more :)
leithmotive.bsky.social
Bet if this was put to a referendum the public would vote against alternatives to fptp though...

Week in week out, signs of an electorate crying out for electoral reform.

Does this mean the first central bank to sell enriches their country and by crashing the gold market with a sudden surplus, makes their competitor countries poorer?

Have you ever wondered why all the Rob Fords that have or will ever exist in the multiverse are congregating on this planet in this timeline and why most of them are, to varying degrees, evil?
leithmotive.bsky.social
Yeah, depends on the EV, my current one has a switch where forward is R and back is Drive, but the mg5 uses a dual where anti clockwise is R and clockwise is D, so I dunno.

Not to criticise the individual, but as a member of the public sometimes I or a member of my family get sick and need to see a doctor. But we can't because there's no appointments and no flexibility. General Practice effectively doesn't exist if you're over 4 and under 70.

A rapid reponse to my article:
'Despite our practice putting in 6 months of work to prepare for the roll out the coverage in the national press has led to overwhelming demand which has pushed us to the limits of safer capacity. Patients have to read and acknowledge a warning about not using..1/2

According to Wes Streeting, GPs are less convenient than hairdressers.
My latest on why goodwill has drained away as we try to provide a safe & equitable service in the teeth of a gale of nonsense from NHS England & the govt.

The no questions asked admission of liability via payment for the repairs from the AA suggests there is likely human error. If you've never driven an EV you can underestimate the instant and rapid acceleration.

Rishi Sunak displaying his usual abilities by going out to mislead the public over prostate cancer screening. It sounds like he's doing a good thing, but the evidence strongly suggests more intensive screening will result in more harm than benefit.

This is one of those ones where the consumer champion should be more cynical. The most parsimonious explanation here is that the car wasn't in reverse and the pedal got caught under a shoe or the mat. That happens often. www.theguardian.com/money/2025/o...

After charging, there was a power system malfunction but MG closed the case and insisted a safety check was at our own expense

Genuinely hope this is a joke because you can't stop an LLM from hallucinating data by telling it not to hallucinate data.

watching the UKs green party elect an actual unafraid leftist into leadership and see party membership double in under a month is once again endless proof that if you stand up for leftist causes and treat the electorate like adults, you’ll win people over easily
