So, if this were to happen, it's pretty clear that the practices they're in trouble for go back to the founder ... who was declared a saint in 2002. Is there historical precedent for something like that?

I’m working on translating a German theological text about Augustine, and I’ve had to read a lot of his stuff in that context, but also a good bit of Tertullian, Optatus, Cyprian … and Augustine is SO much more readable.

I just read a book about the 30 Years War and was imagining how zero-sum apologists of any stripe would try to spin it (I mean tbf the standard view in English and German was "Protestant Glory")
