I mean, "pay an artist" is a step in a good direction…
"You must have… the schooling… the physical readiness… but also a hardon of resolution… The angels at the doorways will try to con you, threaten you, play all manner of cruel practical jokes, to turn you aside. The Qlippoth… will use all your love for friends who have passed across against you."
Author and filmmaker Justine Bateman on generative AI
"They're trying to convince people they can't do the things they've been doing easily for years - to write emails, to write a presentation. Your daughter wants you to make up a bedtime story about puppies - to write that for you." We will get to the point, she says with a grim laugh, "that you will essentially become just a skin bag of organs and bones, nothing else. You won't know anything and you will be told repeatedly that you can't do it, which is the opposite of what life has to offer. Capitulating all kinds of decisions like where to go on vacation, what to wear today, who to date, what to eat.
People are already doing this. You won't have to process grief, because you'll have uploaded photos and voice messages from your mother who just died, and then she can talk to you via AI video call every day. One of the ways it's going to destroy humans, long before there's a nuclear disaster, is going to be the emotional hollowing-out of people." - author and filmmaker Justine Bateman from a piece by Emine Saner for the Guardian
Great episode; well worth listening to—a few times!

(Linking to Spotify: a form of violence? 😏)

Not letting aid in means the genocide is still ongoing.
UNRWA @unrwa.org · 19h
UNRWA has enough food outside #Gaza to supply people there for 3 months, amid desperate need. Our teams stand ready to deliver it.

But despite the #ceasefire, the Israeli Authorities’ block on UNRWA bringing any supplies into Gaza still continues.

Let us get aid into Gaza at the full scale needed.
The elite can be happy only when they have the power to make others suffer.
I think about this now fairly old post by the leader of Canada's People's Party (their Nigel Farage basically) a lot. Like, he says that everyone's happy - isn't that the whole point of a society? NOT FOR RIGHT WINGERS BABY!
Rev. Franklin is a troubled parson, top-tier father, his face beautiful like an ancient ruin.
From "Penda's Fen" (1974), the Rev. Franklin speaking with his son on a walk by the river, his scars making him seem to scowl. From "Penda's Fen" (1974), the Rev. Franklin speaking with his son on a walk by the river, the crepuscular light making this moment both heartening and dark.
The paper in close-ups is so toothy. You watch and can feel the damned things.

I had a great time on Aftermath talking about how you can use Assassin’s Creed as a method of tracing the pathway to the world we live in.
The Assassin’s Creed series was a canary in the coal mine for our modern, engagement-obsessed world. @ckunzelman.bsky.social explains:
I considered it—my phone runs OCR on whatever image I have on it, and does pretty well—but there are a lot of files, and text that goes on for multiple screens…

I dunno. What a pain. The lesson is: stick to plaintext.

How do I explain to offline people that my favorite Japanese mascot said "we can only be liberated from queer oppression if we are truly seen as human" and then started wielding fireworks like a rocket launcher on the side of a mountain without sounding like I've totally lost it?

Chiitan has a dream.
I hope that one day the term LGBT will become a thing of the past.
I will continue to spread my message until we live in a world where everyone can love freely and is free from persecution and discrimination.
Until then, let's all support each other🤍
Seems like the security software on this PC running the VM is causing issues with all of the above.

Time to drag out the old XP machine that's been collecting dust, eh?
I've a Win95 VM and managed to get "KeyView Lotus" running that lets me copy/paste from the files… but I cannot figure out how to write files from the VM to the host machine.
My grandfather's memoirs are trapped in .LWP files—that will not be read nor converted by any software I can find online! Any help or ideas?

(CloudConvert and others fail; LibreOffice does not open them.)
