Sometimes, it is non-trivial to get access to uncensored data! Thanks and kudos @datarescueproject.org !

Not sure what your employer will think of @washingtonpost.com 's recommendation...

Oh, I forgot to mention: (e) Child mortality about 25% (f) life expectancy about 40 years for most people.

Still great: means fewer child care issues, and absolutely no health insurance problems in retirement...

So let me get this straight: We're going back to the Monroe Doctrine of 1823. Back then (a) women did not have the right to vote (b) most Blacks were slaves (c) Native Americans were still being massacred (d) CO2 levels were about half of today's.
So I guess, all in all, a really great time period!

Innovation and improvement in the many statistics that most economists take for granted comes from careful and thoughtful by a few who go the extra mile (literally!). A reminder how @jchaltiwangerum.bsky.social and Mark Roberts were just a few of those contributing: www.census.gov/newsroom/blo...

France should carefully check the absurd White House ballroom when (if) it opens....

The proposal was submitted in August ==> 2024 <==. Due to the T$47/DOGE 💩, they didn't even have staff to say "no"...

I salute all the brave souls still holding out at NSF for better days, and bravely moving science forward.

NSF got back to me...

Or on their website... For convenience, I've circled the relevant passage...

The FBI can't explain why Antifa is an organization at all, says Intercept. This one's easy: go to the organization's website, check their HQ, and then look at the flags to see who the members are...

And the first thing I'll do is tell them to correct the typo in their email address. I mean, sure you could correctly write "microsoft".. Let me click on it immediately and tell them...

What? Yet another working group? I am so honored by this request, I will immediately click on the button...

NYT reports "Marco Rubio ordered the State Department to return its default font to Times New Roman. It rejected the Biden administration’s switch to Calibri, done for accessibility reasons, as a D.E.I play." Logical next step: Image below created with Google Font "Redacted Script"

Nah, this one rests on all days, from 1-7...

La vue, et la vie, du chat!

Somewhat like the IRS Direct File fiasco - fiasco being that it closed, not that it didn't work. It closed bc companies were losing business. Business they shouldn't need to have, if the tax filing system were somewhat more sane...

Brazil 🇧🇷 has an official gov't website to validate electronic signatures (like on PDFs). Electronic trust, for free. validar.iti.gov.br If you tried this in the US 🇺🇸, you would immediately have lobbyists from M$, Ad0be claiming that this infringes on something (but most likely their profits). 🤷

It's worth mentioning that global warming is NOT a myth, but ostriches burying their head in the sand IS. And yet, there's a connection, when humans emulate the latter to avoid seeing the former.

They're only $20 bill rolls... that's why.

I am fairly certain that having rolls of $100 bills in a box is NOT one of the "5 best easy ways to earn a passive income"... but then, maybe I'm wrong, and that's why I don't have a box full of $100 bill rolls...

Congrats to @simine.com for winning the @einsteinberlin.bsky.social Individual award "Promoting Quality in Research" this year! Well earned!

It is worth noting that yesterday was the 80th anniversary of the Nürnberg trials, in which the United States and its allies tried and ultimately convicted war criminals. Those were the times.

I hear the building is still available.

Usually, "back to the office" mandates should have CEO's lead by example. And if you don't show up, you are fired. Not rewarded with even higher incentives. Can I get that "back to the office" BONUS as well??? Please?

Was driving along that weird stretch of US-Canada bisected street (the street is in Canada the houses on the southern side are in the US), and almost all the houses in the southern side, usually flying 🇺🇸, were flying 🇨🇦, with posters "Elbows up".
