Well, I don't live in your fair city, but if I did, I would take your advice. Thanks for the concise, informative, summaries.
Interesting thread, @mplsnightmayor.bsky.social Thanks. The tensions you and others talk about are very present in my home town of Nashville TN.
Thank you for pointing the way @ebonyteach.blacksky.app ! I just contributed to my local org. I hope all who are able can pitch in and help those around us who are in need.

Today marks one month since the funeral of Delta State University student Trey Reed.

His family is still waiting on the results of an independent autopsy. After he was found hanging from a tree on campus, the state's initial autopsy ruled his death a suicide.

Here's a timeline of what we know.

If your kid is on the spectrum, or if you're transgender, or speak Spanish, or just grow a beard, they hate you because you dare to be 'different'

Inside the war on this basic human right -- to not conform -- that is central to Trump's fascist project

The Trump's regime's disturbing views on everything from autism to transgender people has a scary 'master race' vibe.

We look forward to your report!
You actually know a guy who did a study in the mid-1990s on the history and conditions of Skyline Parkway! Maybe you can find it in the SHPO files, but it's pretty old by now.
Great quotation, thank you for that! And, as always, for your insights.
That's a LOT of weight! (speaking as someone who used to lift). Good for you!
Yes, @donnerkay.bsky.social spells this out exactly. Orgs like the one she manages, the @mississippifreepress.org are a big part of the solution, until the legacy media can somehow shape up.
This is also what we mean when we say that much/most journalism centers power and partisan games over people. That is such destructive and useless “journalism” to obsess over parties and partisanship. It’s the exact cause of two-party, binary, “both sides” journalism.
Hit Dems hard??? You mean hit already struggling people hard???

Horserace orgs like Politico wants SO BAD for the consequences of this shutdown to be about Democrats and partisan political gamesmanship rather than for everyday people.
Bob Dylan on Election night 2008, according to many who were there.
Indeed you should! Maybe a second career in the offing, taking pictures of town's welcome signs?
Exactly! Hedge funds with a campus attached, sadly.
Yes, this is an excellent perspective. Thank you @drangelasutton.bsky.social Of interest to @profsecchi.bsky.social @profjeffries.bsky.social @learothawms.bsky.social @shannonmattern.bsky.social and many, many others on here. This is a distressing development.
What Harvard does the rest copy. PhDs have unique skillsets.
To translate for people outside higher ed: we are surrendering leadership in science and technology to China, and worse: we are turning our backs on understanding what makes us human.
Wow. Harvard nuking its PhD programs

- Science PhD admissions reduced by more than 75%
- Arts & Humanities reduced by about 60%
- Social Sciences by 50–70%
- History by 60%
- Biology by 75%
- The German department will lose all PhD seats
- Sociology from six PhD students to zero
Yeah, that response is despicable.
