Why would they want to get out? They’d drown out of water. I have to say I was going to have the three biggest koi moved as I felt they were a bit overcrowded but now the heron has thinned them out by 5+ maybe I don’t need to.

I’ve got the net on now but he thinks he can walk on that so I keep finding him almost in the pond but on top of the net! I wonder if he’s a young one which is why he’s not afraid to try different ways to get a meal?! I’ve just ordered a second black net which I’ll put over closer to the water.

It’s very overgrown! The shrubs are all about 20-25 years old now so they’ve got very big! Here’s a little video of it in high summer with little Bella who I lost 2 years ago 🥲

I caught the heron this morning balanced on the Perspex sheet at the front of the pond! He’s been back about 10 times today, each time I see him I rush out shouting at him! He’s just been back again strolling all around the garden.
