IDK man, this is a real "different strokes" scenario to me. I have a lot of kids and a silent low mass by myself is one of the best possible prayer environments, to me.

If you have little kids with you and you're taking care of them in the pew, and that's taking your conscious attention away from the readings and the prayers, that just means caring for them *in church* is your worship for the day. Relax

Real talk though this is one of the best things you can do at Mass. You show up. You refrain from doing stuff that would take your focus away from Mass (no phone, etc) and you just sit there / go through the motions and be a sponge soaking up your surroundings

We have a cast iron griddle that goes on top of the stove, AND the stove in the new house has a built-in griddle. Makes pancakes 4 at a time. 5-6 if you add another big skillet.

Might make it even cheaper next time by using ground flaxseed in place of chicken eggs in the batter

Flour is cheap. You can't really eat raw flour. But it's a really quick trip from flour to pancakes! Especially if your recipe measures by weight and you can just dump stuff in the bowl on the scale.

Also I like to chop bacon into pieces before cooking it in the Dutch oven.
