Excited to share my latest in Lancet ID: Global Health & Pandemic Preparedness at a Crossroads.

With Trump as POTUS & RFK Jr. as @HHSGov Secretary, I explore how this could weaken evidence-based policy & global collaboration amid emerging threats like H5N1. 🌍

Global health and pandemic preparedness at a crossroads
The re-election of Donald Trump as the 47th president of the USA has raised concerns among health-care professionals and public health experts about the future of global health and pandemic preparedne...

Funny how they act this way for vaccines but not when it comes to reproductive rights for women

It’s amazing to me the gall politicians have when it comes to dictating health care policy when they actually know nothing about medicine

California is proud to congratulate FIVE California university-affiliated scholars among this year's Nobel laureates.

From quantum computing to clean energy and medical breakthroughs, these trailblazers reflect the strength, innovation, and creativity that define our state.

This policy is evidence-based. COVID-19 ↗️ risk of complications such as blood clots, diabetes,& heart disease.

Vaccination is required for all transplant recipients to optimize health before & after surgery.

Organs are a scarce and we want to ensure they are used to achieve the best outcomes.

These firings were not mistakes and the firing and rehiring and firing again is abusive to federal workers
drdebhoury.bsky.social
Congress needs to demand transparency re these CDC firings and what happened. I don't think "miscoding" is the reason nearly 50% of those fired were rescinded. Maybe it was the public awareness that programs like global health, suicide prevention, and measles response were being eliminated...
firedbutfighting.bsky.social
No one knows what is happening. Now, we are hearing some of the CDC RIF notices might have been in error.
Error = Miscoding

Where are we hearing this? Through media of course! No one is being transparent with CDC staff.

We continue to track the cuts. Stay tuned.

We’re in yet another government shutdown — with no end in sight.

The longest shutdown in U.S. history was also under this same president. Different year, same story — gridlock, uncertainty, and no urgency to fix it.

Real people are being hurt while politics takes priority over governance.
krutikakuppalli.bsky.social
Unfortunately, this is becoming the norm. Misinformation and the politicizing science is driving a resurgence of vaccine-preventable diseases.

The U.S. could lose its measles elimination status — something once unthinkable.

Science isn’t partisan. Vaccines save lives.

#VaccinesWork #PublicHealth
krutikakuppalli.bsky.social
#Trump just got his #COVID19 and #flu shots.

Yet his administration has made access increasingly difficult for ordinary Americans.

Every #MAGA supporter should be asking — if these vaccines are good enough for POTUS, why shouldn’t they be just as easy for everyone else to get?
krutikakuppalli.bsky.social
Can someone explain why members of Congress still get paid during a government shutdown?

If their pay stopped like other federal employees, I bet we’d see these shutdowns end a lot faster.
krutikakuppalli.bsky.social
The CDC’s Poxvirus & Rabies Branch—key to monitoring the only disease ever eradicated, #smallpox was reportedly RIF’d in the recent “Friday Massacre.”

Two labs in the world retain live variola virus (U.S. & Russia) and raises serious questions for global health security and oversight.
krutikakuppalli.bsky.social
Not sure how you fire someone in error. This was clearly planned and they are walking back due to public outcry.

Just when you think things can’t get worse, they do.
joshuasweitz.bsky.social
New reporting: many apparently fired at CDC in 'error'. This is a failure by design given that the admin does not care about fulfilling agency missions. This is the kind of error that should have political consequences.

Unserious people cause real-world harm.

I’m out of words for how reckless and dangerous this is.

❌ Tylenol does not cause autism
❌ Circumcision does not increase autism risk
✅ There is zero scientific evidence for either claim

Trump and RFK are not doctors. They don’t know what they’re talking about- those enabling it should be ashamed.
krutikakuppalli.bsky.social
Six former surgeon generals, multiple former CDC directors, Nobel Laureates, numerous scientists and even his family do not think RFK should be HHS Secretary - perhaps time for a little self reflection?
joshuasweitz.bsky.social
More are united around a simple message: RFK Jr should not be HHS Sec. His decisions undermine our public health capacity and put lives and health at risk.

As 6 former Surgeon Generals argue:

"He has rejected science, misled the public and compromised the health of Americans."

It was our duty in office to warn of dangers when we found them. We’re doing that again today.

We are going to loose our #measles elimination status in a few months - so much for making america healthy
krutikakuppalli.bsky.social
🚨8 months in & the health misinformation from this administration is terrifying

💊 Tylenol causes autism? False.
💉 Vaccines unsafe? False.
⚠️ Public health under attack? Sadly true.

Disinformation isn’t leadership. It’s reckless. Lives are on the line.

Thank you @barackobama.bsky.social for using science to speak truth.

I miss the days when our leaders respected the power and influence they have and were careful with it.
barackobama.bsky.social
We have people in power making broad claims around certain drugs and autism that have been continuously disproven.
krutikakuppalli.bsky.social
False. Kids in the U.S. get ~20–24 vaccine doses before age 5.

What about the child who can’t be vaccinated because of immune suppression, and is then infected by a child whose parents chose not to vaccinate—leading to serious illness or even death?

How does ignoring this make America healthy.

I am done engaging- you obviously have your mind made up and it’s not worth my time or energy to argue with someone who is wrong.

Even the UK’s MHRA fighting back against the bogus Tylenol causes autism claim
krutikakuppalli.bsky.social
I never said that. Do you know how much Tylenol you have to take to cause liver damage?

Any medication in excess quantities and lead to medical complications.

At the end of the day there is no evidence that Tylenol causes autism or is unsafe if taken in appropriate doses
krutikakuppalli.bsky.social
Aspirin is not a good medicine for pain and fevers. Additionally there is real data showing risks of using it in pregnancy.

There is no actual real data showing that Tylenol is harmful.
krutikakuppalli.bsky.social
If #tylenol is so bad for children's health then why aren't we worried about #guns

I bet more children have died or been adversely affected due to gun violence than tylenol.
krutikakuppalli.bsky.social
Is #tylenol safe in pregnancy? Data 👇

A large Swedish study of 2.48M children found:

👶 No link btwn prenatal tylenol & autism, ADHD, or intellectual disability once sibling comparisons controlled for family/genetic factors.

👉 Tylenol is safe in pregnancy if needed.

When major medical societies, Nobel laureates, leading scientists, and even your own family are all condemning your comments and policies, maybe the problem isn’t them.

Time for some self-reflection.
