Relentless Frontier runs off of its own engine fork, RFGriddle. We haven't used stock GZDoom in a very long time. Didn't want the fate of our game tied to certain unstable elements.

...Why am I bringing this up now? Bah, no reason!

Ideally, the premise of a mechanic and at least some of its potential should be very easy to learn through playing it. Usually helps when the mechanic is introduced at a time where you want to use it, so your brain makes that connection ASAP.

Bigass tutorials are nice as an option though, IMO.

The next update for Relentless Frontier HD should be out soon, totally reworked textures. The broken displacement maps are still a mystery but all other effects are working nicely!

Notice how different light values reveal information embedded within the texture itself.
