It's... tiresome to go through Next Fest and see a thumbnail that looks vaguely AI generated and it's just... exhausting to have to squint at each one that even remotely looks suspicious.

At least the piss filter can be a giveaway... sometimes.

I played the Bubsy 4D demo a while back.

I never really thought I'd even have to say this but it's actually a pretty competent speed platformer. Only thing I'd question is the weird flip-flop of framerates on Steam Deck, it kept changing between 59 and 60.

No idea if it's me, the game, or the deck

Pilgrim's Traverse allowing you to play with randos all the way through is a nice change... but also kind of horrifying and up to RNG.

So far, I've been fortunate to get two floor 100 clears with matched parties with competent teammates.

However, I am now traumatized from all the one-shots.

Now with the art out of the way, I tried the new Atlyss update earlier.

It seems alright, not much of a big change besides fishing becoming a profession. I still managed to get through the hardest Crescent Grove on Amelia, who is my Bishop, so that's good.

I shouldn't have flown into a tirade about this but I guess when your expectations for a game are in hell, minor things begin to feel like major issues.

Anyway, demo's just fine, runs fine. Not enough to really go off of and I'm not about to buy the full game to find out. Sorry.

Bottom line, stop fucking babygating the graphics options for handheld PC users, especially Deck users, I promise most people won't touch them if the defaults are tuned right.

Seriously, if there was a performance issue or if I wanted to save on battery life, locking those options away is only a nusiance at best, hindrance at worst.

If people want to play the game with more pixels than polygons, that's on them.

If they want to play a slideshow, let them burn 'emselves.

Also, pet peeve:

Stop fucking taking away graphics options from Steam Deck users. Not a "this game" problem, it's a problem with a number of games with Deck-exclusive graphical options in general.

Let me ruin my experience myself, I shouldn't have to type in

SteamDeck=0 %command% to do that.

Against my better judgement, I played the Y-R demo to see what the fuss is about.

Feels about the same, not feeling good about having everything at the start, though.

If I wanted to watch multiple cutscenes playing in sequence, I can just boot up FFXIV.

Congrats, it's "just okay", not trash.

The FFXIV side of the MHWilds collab feels a little bare but the fight more than makes up for it. Also doesn't feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall for forty minutes like a certain MHWilds collab fight............

Started a new small project in Godot and decided to study spriting exteriors, which mainly consisted of staring at Deltarune and Mother 3 exteriors to figure things out. Not... entirely original but it's a start...
