we simply disagree that electoralism is a realistic pathway. the quickest route to leftist electoral presence is probably just the dems continuing to implode their own shit. any better possible world you or i could live to see is nowhere near better enough. that's not fatalism, it's movement work.

we do basic community organizing. political education. mutual aid. i don't think our trans meal delivery will save us, or our medicaid step-in program, or our cool bills. understanding revolution as necessary for liberation isn't believing we'll see it; it's seeing how to believe our children will.

so it's def unappealing, but not just from anti-electoralism ideology: dem candidates simply suck to us & only get worse while the party leverages duopoly dynamics to keep out better 3p/ind platforms. you know i almost ran 2yrs ago & have socialist pals who've run, incl last week for nola council.

gop eagerly runs extreme candidates w/ party support bc it complements their comms/policy/political goals. dems hate running even progressives, let alone w/ support, bc it undercuts their comms/policy/political goals. plenty commies still vote (look me up in VAN), we just know it's not the real work

No this isn't correct I work with and am friends with both queer and trans folk all I am trying to say is this anger is appropriate yes, but right now our culture is so polarized we need to eloquently wake people up not push them away.

Tonight, no Senate Democrats voted for the ban on trans girls and young women participating in sports, and it failed cloture. The prevailing reasoning was far less about trans equality and far more about preventing genital exams of girls and young women. Don't be surprised when the GOP tries again.

I get this - but the two are one and the same basically - right to autonomy and privacy.

There were enough comments in support of LGBTQ+ youths by the Dems, and comments about how much of a non-issue this is, that I believe they would still block legislation regardless.

I'm not saying don't be hopeful. But I'm also trying to be grounded here and offer context on what happened tonight. Most Senate Democrats voted against genital exams for girls and young women, not for trans equality.
