Every time a Democrat gets caught on tape saying like “Some Trump voters are racist” we have a national scandal and JD Vance demands an entirely new kind of apology and meanwhile every Republican group chat is like “Good morning fellow SS members. Who’s ready to respect Hitler today?”

Hoping this will be full of women staring out of windows, whining about ducks going to Moscow.

If you get that reference, this is why we are friends.

Postcard from Glenrothes.
Graffiti on a bus shelter in Glenrothes that reads "Kyla is a fishy weirdo" but someone has scored out 'Kyla' and replaced it with 'Zoey'.

I've just asked ChatGPT to create an image of your food and frankly you should be ashamed of yourself.

That makes a lot of sense.

I watched a lot of older stuff in full during lockdown (The Golden Girls, Malcolm in the Middle, Desmond's and more) but once things started opening up again I was drawn more to stuff that was either new or that I hadn't yet seen.

I hadn't been grabbed by any trailers, clips or word of mouth but when I eventually watched the first couple of episodes I thought "Oh, I see it now."

Yeah, it took me a while too but I binged it about 3 years ago and really enjoyed it.

There are more people who claimed they had a big cousin or an uncle who was close to Glasgow gangsters than there are actual Glasgow gangsters.

I've become quite a fan of his work through time.

Someone at the time told me that if I loved 'Bottom', which I do, I would love this.
keithrfoster.bsky.social
That's true. Every school year had at least one of them.

That's similar to what I said in another reply. It had a strong hint of nostalgia on the part of its writers, but I could never quite decide if any of it was aimed at someone at the point I was in life at that time. A lot of people I knew loved it, to be fair.

I couldn't decide if I was meant to or not. It was very well liked among younger people but I was 32 when it started. On the other hand, despite being set in the present day, it had a nostalgic, 'What *were* we like at that age?' feel to it, and if I read that right, it wasn't especially relatable.

Yeah, I could see why it was popular (and I mean that sincerely, not in a backhanded 'it's good if you like that sort of thing' way) but it never quite clicked with me.

Yeah, in most cases they aren't 'awful' but sometimes their awfulness has become so normalised and such a part of their daily presentation that it only really becomes apparent through its absence.
keithrfoster.bsky.social
Yes, but after a while you perhaps wonder why you didn't do it sooner. It's often hard to understand how someone affects you, and sometimes how awful they truly are, until they are no longer a part of your life.

I have ended some friendships as an adult and although I wouldn't say I took the decision lightly, I have, like you, never once regretted doing it.

It's rarely been a single event, more a culmination of small things that have made me realise this isn't working, is irretrievable and I don't need it.

Facebook is, unsurprisingly, full of this shit.

It's wild, isn't it? Who did anyone expect would be serving their sentences alongside someone like that? I shed no tears for Watkins but it was always likely to anyone who thought about it for a millisecond that his killers would not be stand up guys, either.
