Novels are just comics consisting of one picture and an overwritten caption.

Tell me your most unhinged literary opinion, as a little treat

I wasn’t sure if that was just a clever pun or an actual contranym like “sanction”. Is a dog rescuing a person the opposite of a person rescuing a dog?
keeganlannon.bsky.social
Would “rescue dog” be a contranym in that is can be both a dog that rescues people and a dog rescued by people? Asking for my six year old who is beginning to feel like language is a scam.

Your Cherokee words for today.
The top word is English followed by how it is written in the Cherokee language followed by how it is spelled in English then how to pronounce it phonetically.
Image is line paper with writing showing an English word followed by how it is written in the Cherokee language followed by how it is spelled and pronounced. The words are indigenous people's day and pronounced ayheeyahee ahneeyuhwee eegah

This is how I imagine Harlan Ellison looked when he wrote that.
Harlan Ellison sits behind a typewriter, leaned back in his chair. He has a pipe dangling from his mouth and he wears a floppy haircut. He is wearing a sky blue t-shirt. There are two stacks of papers on either side of his typewriter.

I mean...technically Italian-American, but he did play for Italy in the 2013 World Baseball Classic
A picture of an excited Anthony Rizzo from the 2018 World Series after he was involved in the final play of the winning game. Rizzo is wearing the Cubs' blue away jersey and matching hat. The jersey has the Cubs' C with the cartoon bear on the chest on his left-hand side. There is also a World Series patch on the left shoulder. Rizzo's mouth is open wide in a happy scream and he is wearing eye-black.

Friend-coded animals. Big and fluffy. Nothing fluffy should be dangerous.

Now that the Cubs are out of the playoffs, baseball is officially over. What else am I to do with my time?
keeganlannon.bsky.social
I hope the Cubs spend the off season snatching up some pitching.

I wish the Brewers well. It was a hard fought series. I hope they smoke the Dodgers.
keeganlannon.bsky.social
Thank God it’s not the Cardinals.
keeganlannon.bsky.social
Fucking hell these Brewers can pitch. I hate to admit it, but they are just mowing down the Cubs.
keeganlannon.bsky.social
I’ll say it: the pale yellow of the Brewer’s uniforms makes it look like they got peed on.

Chicago priest Fr. Larry Dowling describes procession to ICE facility: “No one had the courage to speak directly to us. No one from Homeland Security could stand in the presence of the Monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. No wonder. Evil is repelled, recoils in the presence of Christ.”

That’s unfair. Those are candid photos and sometimes those capture us in our worst light. Now that he dressed up like the most racist widower at a nursing home’s problematic Pimps and Hos night for his own music video is totally fair game.
A sallow and wraith-like kid rock standing in what I assume he thinks is a menacing stance wearing a cartoonishly big gold chain, knee high athletic socks and and what appear to be Nike-branded orthopedic shoes.

For context, 18 innings is the longest a playoff game has lasted. And that’s happened four times in MLB history (once with the Mariners).

I’ve got the 2026 Grading Conference on my radar.

Ah! Yes! This is great! Thanks for sharing this, which I somehow missed.

I would like to see a study done where multiple instructors use the same policies, documents and teaching materials and then measure anxiety to see if it is reduced in roughly the same way across instructor (and even better, institution).
keeganlannon.bsky.social
From what I found, there is a lot of anecdotal research that shows students feel less anxiety in a class with alternative assessment models, but I worry that the lessened anxiety could be tied more to instructors than to policies.

It is really easy to get swept up by the moral clarity, and then want to get all the warm feelings for being part of such a righteous movement.
