FEAST OF ALL SAINTS
"Poor in Spirit,
Mourn with those who weep,
Meek,
Hunger and thirst for righteousness,
Merciful,
Clean of heart,
Peacemakers,
Persecuted for the sake of righteousness" (Mt 5:3-10).
There is blessedness is being the kind of person Jesus was. May we find ourselves blessed!

Bereshit , “In the beginning…” invites us to ponder more than just the origins of heaven and earth; it invites us to consider how the world, society and human relationships can be framed around shared responsibility, mutual dignity, and the freedom that arises when no one holds unchecked power.

PONDER:
The meaning of life is to find your gift
The purpose of life is to give it away...
The Lord has given us His Holy Spirit to be our Helper, but He will not be of practical help to us until we yield ourselves to Him. In Romans 6:13, Paul urges believers to “yield yourselves unto God.”

Thich Nhat Hahn’s 99th birthday is today.

“When another person makes you suffer, it is because he suffers deeply within himself and it's spilling over. He doesn't need punishment. He needs help." -Thich Nhat Hanh
I am not convinced that we can escape God. Eventually all of our deeds, good and bad, catch up with us.
Stay strong, Chicago!

Sept 30 Scripture
In today's gospel, as much as the disciples wanted to call down fire from heaven to consume and consumer the Samaritan village (as if they could 😂) Jesus turned around and rebuked them (Lk 9:51-56). How often we think God is only our God! All belong to God and God belongs to all.
Always a good reminder
I would say that none of us is worthy of being honored by the Church. We all fail to live up to the moral standards set for us. But to be recognized for trying one’s best to assist the poor, the helpless, the immigrant- especially in today’s political climate -is absolutely worthy of being honored.
Oh I struggle with this…struggle with stopping what I have done
All
My
Life - teach.
I pray that God will help
Me stop and see the world around me and enjoy rather than think I still
Must labor.
Thank you for this.

Sept 23 Scripture
Jesus expanded his biological family saying, "My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and act on it" (Lk 19 21). In our own families, there are good people and not so good folks. Am I a good member of Jesus' family? It depends on hearing and acting on his word.
It’s nothing short
of embarrassing
Yay! Everyone deserves the opportunity to read

Sept 22 Scripture
"No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel...' (Lk 8:18). Unfortunately, these days darkness is placed on a lampstand and darkness is proposed as the light. How is true light discerned from the light of darkness? True light is always humble, kind, self-giving, peaceful.
Thank you. This also gives us a moment to consider who we are listening to.

Sept 17 Scripture
Jesus: "To what shall I compare the people of this generation?(Lk 7:31). It is a rhetorical question by Jesus but to answer the question, I say: This generation makes racism, hate, violence, and oppression virtues. It makes martyrs out of villains. So, please let us keep the faith.
