RIP to Itagaki, whose poisonous (but totally kayfabe) vendetta against Tekken was a relentlessly entertaining thread out of the early 2000s Japan dev news scene. You knew you were in for a treat if you got an interview with him.
(Included in the previous post)
Katsuhiro Harada, game director of the Tekken series, and his last Facebook Messenger post with Tobonobu Itagaki before his passing.

Today I lost someone who was truly like a brother to me. I am gutted to the core. I guess I can say so now that it's on his Facebook page. He even listed himself as my actual brother on Facebook. Anyone who knows me knows how close we were. RIP, senpai. You will always be a ninja.

I am...frankly, beyond stunned that Tomonobu Itagaki passed away. Rest in peace.

A rework of the Kabal spinning Cyrax card concept. I even added a sound chip that plays when you open the card. "I'm gonna make this quick... I love spinning time with you!"
You can tell that this game is made from the heart by a team that loved to create games. It sounds corny, the game is too, but it's impossible not to fall in love with it. It's all of Konami's best early 90's attributes in one game. The only thing I don't like is the boss Sledge.
It turns out that Konami making a beat 'em up specifically more in the style of Final Fight does wonders to the quality of the game, but this couldn't have been made by any other developer. It's peak Konami arcade gaming, coming from a team with love for their work.
Finally got around to replaying Violent Storm; It's even better than I remember. A beautiful, addictively optimistic beat 'em up packed to the brim with humourous details that makes repeat playthroughs full of surprises. Konami's best in the genre, by a landslide.

Sometime this month 26 years ago, Dead or Alive 2 was originally released at arcades in JP. It was developed by Team Ninja and published by Tecmo.
Today is the day that I won.
I had too much fun on the Internet Archive last night.
