Hi all, introduction time! I'm a witchy queer author with chronic pain who writes contemporary romance. I'm currently in the middle of the Pagans & Pop Stars series about a former boy band and their friends (and exs) all finding love.

Hey #Romancelandia? I am losing my mind trying to find a book I saw online a month or so ago and now can't relocate. It was about a barista (possibly café owner) spiking the MMC's coffee with something spicy to see if he could take the heat. If you have clues about this book, it's appreciated! TIA!!

I just needed the damn piece of paper. That’s all that mattered. I could do this, would do this. Yet despite telling myself that more than once in the past few weeks, I still wondered if this had been nothing but a massive mistake. I pulled my jacket tighter around myself. Outside was like a humid swamp hell, but they must’ve had the AC running full blast inside. It worked for the best since I preferred long sleeves, but outside of work, I hadn’t been in an AC’ed environment in weeks now — nearing a month. It brought me back to the question I’d asked myself so many times now: how was I going to do this?

Just as predictably, there was only one answer as well: it didn’t matter; I had no other option.
-Maya

On the bottom left, there is a picture of a teenage girl with dark brown hair and light emerald eyes pensively looking to the side. To her right, retailer logos are listed as follows: itch.io, ko-fi, Campfire, Payhip, Apple Books, Smashwords, Google Play Books, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon Kindle. A plus sign with “more @ riyati.ink/ripple” is under the retailer logos. There are faded yellow particles and a yellow faded glyph on a black background. On top of the particles and glyph is text that reads:

When I’d started back in May, I’d been happy that I didn’t have to learn the damn registers and talk to people like Elaine did when she worked checkout. I’d since realized maybe that’d have been better ‘cause being stuck unloading the damn trucks and then stocking shelves’s boring as hell. But ‘cause I ain’t eighteen, couldn’t touch the cash, they said. So I got to do every damn other thing instead — like right then, was stuck breaking down yet another damn box after filling that shelf with canned beans. Didn’t get why there’s seriously nine different flavors of the same brand. Did anyone even buy all this goddamn shit? They must’ve, since I was restocking multiple hours a day, near every damn day of the week for weeks now.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Elaine brush past me. We never spoke here. Hell, barely spoke at home either, in all fairness. She went behind the back desk counter, but I couldn’t see what else she did; likely’s going on break since she loved those.
-Jordan

On the bottom left, there is a picture of a teenage boy with olive brown hair and light blue eyes pensively looking at the viewer. To his right, retailer logos are listed as follows: itch.io, ko-fi, Campfire, Payhip, Apple Books, Smashwords, Google Play Books, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon Kindle. A plus sign with “more @ riyati.ink/ripple” is under the retailer logos. There are faded yellow particles and a yellow faded glyph on a black background. On top of the particles and glyph is text that reads:

Mom had been an anxious wreck, as bad as when I’d come back from being kidnapped by Asuza. But unlike then, there was no Sia to block emotions; I knew how terrified and exhausted she felt, how she cried when she didn’t think I was awake to hear.

If I’d just died back then, she could’ve moved on, not be put through this again and again.

Instead, all I could do was lie in bed, barely able to go to the bathroom without her trying to help me. Really, it was worse than after I’d been kidnapped because I couldn’t even sit at my desk to work on stuff and had no Sia to talk to, only my thoughts that never stopped anymore. Exercising was definitely off the table with my actually non-existent injuries, something further destroying any sense of normalcy I might’ve had. Mom had requested emergency leave, had groceries delivered in, never left. How much stress had I put on her? How many lives had been destroyed because of me? I’d finally managed to sneak my spell book into bed with me, hidden it to my right, underneath my comforter. But after having it beside me, I lost any drive to actually skim through it despite knowing I needed to figure out what that “anti-magic” thing was. Another sign of disrespect to those that’d died and suffered because of me.
-Kylie

On the bottom left, there is a picture of a teenage girl with reddish-brown hair and teal eyes anxiously looking at the viewer.

A mockup of The First Sin by Cheyenne Brammah. In the sweeping expanse of the Årdrakin Empire, the people fight and die for honor as elite warriors of the galaxy. But long ago, a prophecy was spoken that presaged the apocalypse. Everyone knows and fears the truth: one day, the empire will fall.

Tårik is a guard for small, independent Clan Tsinna. Instead of pondering the end of his civilization, Tårik’s greatest concern is maintaining his honor while escorting a group of impertinent dignitaries across the treacherous Barren Gale. When the Mother Goddess speaks a passage from the prophecy to him, he has the good sense to be frightened, but he doesn’t heed the significance of Her visit.

Then disaster strikes, and Tårik is branded as an exile, leaving him with no home, no honor, and no future. Forced into a desperate struggle for survival, all Tårik can focus on is living just one more day until luck—or maybe fate—gives him the opportunity to join a new clan. But even this is fraught with danger and uncertainty, and it takes him to an inhospitable world far from the empire where survival seems all but impossible.

Faced with new challenges, including trying to navigate first contact with the low-tech locals, Tårik believes the prophecy can’t reach him. Yet it continues to loom, signaling that his fate and the fate of the empire are irrevocably entwined.
