Do you like cities? Do you think they're miraculous instances of collective creativity, not despite but because of the fact that they always involve complex & improvisatory negotiations among dissimilar individuals? Would you like to explain that to kids? Allow me to recommend LEAF TOWN FOREVER:

I’m gonna take a break from both King and super-long books after I finish this one, but I’m excited to read another one of his massive epics one of these days.

I’m loving it. It’s so excessive and insane. I mean…an ever-shifting orange-haired evil force that’s brutal & cruel at every opportunity but especially to the relatively powerless? It feels eerily appropriate to be reading right now. I can’t wait to talk to you about it when I’m done!

The physical object is too much man, but I’m enjoying the heck out of it electronically.

It *would* be a great title and that is a great concept. I love Ulysses, but I’ve never been able to get into Finnegan’s Wake. One of these days!

I’ve made it to page 953 of Stephen King’s it. I’m reading it on my Kindle because it’s heavy to the point of impracticality, but I’m also charting my progress in the paper book because it’s satisfying to see how much of this bonkers tome I have devoured and how much I have yet to get through.

attempting to describe the vibes of the moment. have yet to do better than: "imagine watching a documentary reenacting the burning of the Library of Alexandria set to the soundtrack of 'Yakety Sax'"
