Once Upon a Punk Show
For Giulia Caesari, a small-time punk singer chasing a stage high, embracing the chaos of her life is a night in the mosh pit. Until she learns chaos is not an abstract thing. Chaos is a flesh and …

Day #140: Captain Planet and the Planeteers (1990)
A blue plastic lunchbox with the image of a diverse group of teens in shirts with Earth on them, holding their fists up in the air. A group of evil-looking characters lurk behind them, as a volcano erupts in the distance. A large woman in a purple tunic watches over the scene in the top right corner, and the Captain Planet logo is in the middle

“…The LGBTQ+ community has undoubtedly helped to elevate Knightley to national treasure status. It’s painful to discover that while she has been happy to take our money, even she has a price…”

I don't accept Keira Knightley's apology for working with JK Rowling
Being a trans ally and a Keira Knightley fan are – to my grave disappointment – now mutually exclusive.

Irony is, that makes me want ti buy those Corsairs more and I would not have known about their existence without the chuds complaining.
cerberusxt.bsky.social
Looks like the outrage tourists realised Eldar Corsairs aren't the heterosexual white Christian monogamous type, and that make them very upsetti spaghetti.

Also i suppose the new time limit for mid rolls is 8mn on youtube hey ?

It's a little funny that half of the 18 countries having "no kings" rallies are monarchies 👑

Here's the full lore drop thread since it's not directly attached here 😁

Ok here's the lore drop. In reverse order based off how epic I personally think each fact is...
kateforrest.bsky.social
So that is how I, as a bored NH gamer in college, destroyed the economy of a fictional game country and influenced the design of one of the best selling video games of all time.
kateforrest.bsky.social
I *guarantee* some of the WoW devs looked at this and went... oh fuck... that's not cool...

The tiered crafting system and the Auction House system were put into place to prevent exactly what me and my friends did for a solid 2 years.
kateforrest.bsky.social
By price fixing a core commodity... my guild caused inflation that would have made early 2000s Zimbabwe blush.

The kind of inflation that destroys actual countries and topples regimes.
kateforrest.bsky.social
He mined data from some of the EQ sites that tracked price fluctuations on different servers.

The one I remember had bar graphs charting prices. My server was Zebuxoruk. On the right.

Our prices were usually 15-20x higher for *everything*
kateforrest.bsky.social
At this time, there was an economist known in the EQ circles. He wrote a lot about the grey market economy where people would sell in game coin for real actual money.

The guy actually figured out an exchange rate and if EQ was a real country, it's economy would be 30ish in the world.
kateforrest.bsky.social
Materials that had cost 300 platinum, were running 2-3k now.

We never tagged our Bazaar Mules into the guild. So the six people selling all the spider silk.... no one had any idea we were price fixing the server.
kateforrest.bsky.social
We cornered the market on spider silks.

Not by farming them ourselves.

Noooo. We bought up everyone else.

Then jacked up the prices 5-10x.
kateforrest.bsky.social
All the best gear was player made. So that pyramid of cloth I mentioned? It's taking *hundreds* of bottom level spider silks to make one of these items.

And it's taking *thousands* yo get your crafting skills high enough to make them.

And until you skill up to max, no guarantee you succeed
kateforrest.bsky.social
Enter my guild....

The core was me in NH, a married couple out of Boston, a woman in Florida, and a military guy that moved a lot.

We hatched a scheme that would make Wall Street bros blush and get rock hard.

90% sure we showed up in an economist's doctoral thesis.
kateforrest.bsky.social
Most people got a Bazaar Mule. Some level 2 that you dumped your sellable inventory on.

So that's the scene in 02ish...
kateforrest.bsky.social
Originally, every server had a zone people just yelled in, but later they made a zone called the Bazaar. You'd put your character in AFK mode and basically make yourself into a clickable vendor.
kateforrest.bsky.social
Part two of this perfect storm... EverQuest did not run an Auction House like WoW does.

(Pretty sure my actions are partly why as well)
kateforrest.bsky.social
EverQuest used a pyramid crafting structure.

Spider silks dropped from mobs.

2 silk make a thread.

2 thread make a strip.

3 strips make a swatch.

4 swatches make a cloth.

4 cloths make a bolt.

It's been years so the numbers and names are prolly not exact, but you get the point.
kateforrest.bsky.social
Nice and neat, right?

This is FUNDEMENTALLY DIFFERENT than EverQuest.
kateforrest.bsky.social
World of Warcraft has a tier based crafting tree that matches with the tiers of corresponding gathering skills.

If you're a tier 1 blacksmith, you use tier 1 ores. When you skill up to tier 2 blacksmithing, you stop using the tier 1 materials and move to tier 2.
kateforrest.bsky.social
The sentiment of the time is that the WoW devs were EverQuest players first and they *fixed* a lot of the annoying mechanics of EQ as part of their original build.

Things like flight paths and world travel were so much better in WoW

Here's where I come in.... crafting.
