Okay, I'm making up a "Nice" list, like I'm fuckin' Santa Claus, bitches. BUT! You only make my list if you're a member of the US Congress and you stand up for trans people, like Rep.-Elect McBride. So far I have Ocasio-Cortez, Frost, and Robert Garcia. If you know of any others, let me know.
But it's so much easier to blame "the Establishment" for "squashing anyone who speaks to the concerns of the working class" than it is to confront the Nazi tattoo and the rape apologia as legitimate issues that a leftist should be concerned about.
you know it is not at all difficult to acknowledge the legitimate concerns about the tattoo and still make a case for the candidate. but this would require maturity, a perspective outside ones own and a willingness to lose a little face, which means it won’t happen.
“Let him among you who is without a Nazi tattoo cast the first stone.” -The Bible
And it's not just the "regrettable" tattoo (that he's had for nearly two decades), but also the rape apologia. It's funny Krystal is so ready to just make this about the tattoo.
Thanks for the info. Will have to look into it.
And after the Dems spent last week ridiculing the GOP, justly, for the Young Republican chatlogs.
You act like he is the only one trying to do that, or capable of it, and that's what we call being under the influence of a cult of personality.
That shit from the Bros in 2020 is why I left Facebook. The toxic "Bernie or bust" BS was aggravating, and I had sworn after 2016 that I wouldn't vote for anyone over 65 in the primary.
And only saying he's going to get it covered up AFTER being called out and dragged all day (which totally means he'll get a smaller one in a less conspicuous place).

The crazy thing is that Platner could have absolutely survived the tattoo thing had he gotten it removed/covered up whenever it is that he first learned what it meant, showing him growing and learning and yadda yadda, etc. But instead he just hoped it'd never come up? Come on, dude.
Graham Platner to @daveweigel.bsky.social:
"How do you expect to win back men when you go back through somebody’s Reddit history and just pull it all out and say: ‘Oh, my God, this person has no right to ever be in politics?’"

DSCC Chair Gillibrand: “It’s up to the voters of Maine to decide.”
Guy, I was a kid and I don't have a Totenkopf tattoo...
He's running in the Dem primary, which isn't for at least another five months. This is him being vetted by the opposition in the primary so that voters don't make a mistake and nominate him only for the GOP to pull this shit out.
Same. Like those Nazi bastards put socialists and Communists in the camps and called themselves "nationalist socialists" afterwards. People saying "he calls himself a socialist" aren't making the defense that they believe that they are. Even we have our wormy apples.
I'm a leftist who wanted to believe this guy was going to be a good progressive, but this shit is totally disqualifying in my eyes. Neither faction needs to paint the other with such a broad brush.
And subsequent information that he knew it was a Totenkopf by 2012 makes it look pretty clear that he knew exactly what it was.
The "homophobe = closeted homosexual" trope is old, and it's a way for smug straight "ally" folks to wash their hands of the shitty homophobes among their fellow straights, especially as a reflexive response. I will take you at your word, however, and accept your apology.
And 744*2 has been around for as long as Arabic numbers, but we know what people mean when that number is tattooed on their fingers.
This feels like those people who say "the swastika isn't necessarily a Nazi symbol. It was used as a holy symbol in Hinduism long before the Germans." Sure, we know that, but what is the most significant use, that most people will know and the number after 1487 doesn't necessarily mean bad things.
Also, it doesn't matter the symbolism of 200 years ago. And when you try that, you sound like the people who appeal to older uses of the swastika to say it "isn't necessarily a Nazi symbol".
Sometimes you have to trust the experts and not just leap to the Occam's Razor conclusion, since things rarely are equal and therefore the razor wouldn't apply.
Glad I am not the only one who is fucking sick of people implying every homophobe is a closeted homosexual. No, a lot of them are just shitty human beings.
Well, yeah, I think we're at the "stop, his campaign is already dead" point here.

I'm tired. We're all tired. This isn't hard to understand. You can't inflate prices of basic necessities like food and housing to ridiculous highs while keeping wages at poverty levels, then act surprised when luxury goods/services and large purchases become unattainable or payments unaffordable.
The former acquaintance was quoting Platner, this the single quote marks around "this is my Totenkopf" when the reporter was quoting the former acquaintance.
He says he asked the president of Somalia to take back AOC. AOC, a natural-born American, given 'back to' Somalia? I think Grandpa is confused, because he thinks she is Ilhan Omar...
Trump: "Schumer is even losing to AOC plus 3. What happened to the plus 3? Are they still around? I met the president of Somalia and I said, 'I have somebody I'd like to give back to you.' He said, 'No thanks. We don't want her.'"
Someone showing some spine.
Enough is enough. Adelita Grijalva was elected on September 23. The people of Arizona have a right to be represented in Congress.

During today’s pro forma session, when the House is called to order I will seek unanimous consent to insist upon the swearing-in of Adelita Grijalva.
