Next week, you can catch me down in Westminster talking at BESA at the winter insights day ⬇️
On those SEND reforms no doubt too.

No, it's cool and I agree it's a hard task pull of the balance there tbh.

No. Absolutely, no, this will not work at all. UK has way different views on this than US.

The right-wing campaign group that helped topple Roe v Wade in the US is now working to roll back abortion laws in the UK, with the help of Nigel Farage.

Its first step? Trying to create a debate around "free speech"

Fact:

If you even show one iota of resemblance to another teacher at your school, kids automatically assume you’re related.

In fact DM me your school, I'll have a look find out 🤣🤣
ka81.bsky.social
Find out someone will be running it. Get the board. Thats who you want to talk to. 👍
ka81.bsky.social
But if you're nervous about that... do the same thing, find the most successful free USA schools. See what they are doing. Same thing. Normally, have policies up or even email them ask. Most schools share!
ka81.bsky.social
And there is nothing wrong with highlighting the most successful free schools in the UK ... we educate kids here that way too 🤣

Either way, every school pays attention when you ask for a meeting with a head & and governors. No matter where it is!
That's always the way forward. 👍

Either way, they both generally have the same vibe, so plenty to get. The process tends to be the same.

Also Nottingham SEND plan is outstanding tbh. You'd gain alot from just highlighting that...

They should take notice of other successful free schools. We normally do learn from each other. 👍 Let me know how it goes x

2. Ask for meeting with Head and send the information governors too. That's one everyone takes seriously. Ask to speak to both about direction. Take everything I sent and any Nottingham policies you find that you feel work. Put in one doc, and ask for progression plan for it all.

Start there!

Ok so 1. you do know what your saying and good schools listen. So first up what does success look like in free schools. ( Nottingham has a outstanding reputation there go see what they are doing)

Yep they also go down that route often too...It's an adjustment. They need to be the teacher in the building, guiding them but also have a hand on the wheel and directing. Free still needs leadership.

I'd have a chat if you feel like that. They don't seem have settled yet....common thou.
ka81.bsky.social
Yep, UK free schools plenty of years of that. They often face that. The wording helps...

You want to have progression for you, kid, and not strict rules, but you want good outcomes, and the role of a teacher is also one of challenge and helping them thrive.
ka81.bsky.social
Also deeply confused to why disability disappears at this magical school but hey 🤣
ka81.bsky.social
And having led in free schools, yep they can be different but you still want to understand the progression plan. I'd ask about it. 👍
ka81.bsky.social
If you was ADHD there, that would be hard going, I suspect, but it depends on if they can direct bout of hyperfocus. Personally and I've seen alot of schools... you need foundations to do self directing from...that requires well... direct teaching. So I'd focus on the foundations.
ka81.bsky.social
Well, many expert teachers, psychologists, speech and language therapists, advocates, academics, and more pitched in for that one so we could just send it to schools. But has alot of links as a parent too.

And no freedom doesn't teach. 🤣
I think I call that attitude out right at the start tbh.

Jesus wept. What are you doing over there....
