The fools! If you just cut the cube up into a stairstep pattern, every across always flows into a down or vice versa. No backwards entry needed!

A terrible mock-up of a crossword on a cube that has been unfolded into a stair-step. It's got a lot of two-letter words in it and probably other problems as well.
