Is that someone you know personally or an "online" person? I think we have to be eyes open to the fact that there are RW trolls cosplaying a "lefties" who are looking to divide & damage the dems. Sadly, it works. It's worked in the past & it can work again. I'd suggest blocking if you suspect it.

Ask yourself this: How would the New York Times have covered the protests if it had been seven million MAGA supporters flooding the streets? We don’t even have to guess: We know how they and other mainstream outlets covered the Tea Party protests during Obama’s first term.

He may or may not be aware of the timeline, but it doesn't much matter. The truth need not get in the way of propaganda, even when the falsity should be blatantly obvious. You just hammer away, get cover from the RW propaganda machinery, and gaslight your base. Off you go.

Predisposing capability on the basis of a physical characteristic is bigotry. Again, there is no special exception for ageism. This is not to say that many US pols don't stay in their jobs well past the point that they are near their best. But it depends on the individual. /2

Depends on how well you're doing your job. Bernie is 84 and still bringing it. Anyway, there really isn't such a thing as a "retirement age" other than what Social Security deems the age when you can get full benefits. But many people work well beyond that age & perform their jobs very very well. /1

Yes. I'm all for more young people running - yes, please, more! But agism is also a type of bigotry, we don't get a special pass for it, and at the end of the day, we have to judge people on their merits, not by physical characteristics.

Once again, the main day of Tea Party protests had about 300,000 nationwide, but saw endless coverage.

The No Kings protests had about 7,000,000 nationwide, and many media outlets reacted with a yawn.

No Kings was nearly 25x as big as the Tea Party but the Tea Party got 25x the attention.

And this of course was Elon's plan all along, to bend the perception of reality in his direction towards neo-fascism. Like Putin with Trump, his plan is likely far exceeding his expectations. And now we have RW oligarchs coming in as owners of TikTok? We're in deep, deep trouble.

Right now, the left just does not have the bandwidth to compete with the whole of the RW propaganda machine, which is getting more & more powerful daily with oligarchs buying up more media + govt pressure. That's the problem to be solved. Get the bandwidth, then use it for counterpropaganda.

It’s good but it’s still a popgun vs. the howitzer of RW propaganda. I like Mamdani a lot but if he was running a national race he’d get pummeled 24/7 with propaganda and his popularity would plummet nationally (it’s already low nationally).
