Just sat through a two hour city council forum in Kirkland hosted by the Houghton Neighborhood Association, where a retired TV host asked questions that assumed things like "the majority" of nearby residents don't want bus lanes or buildings taller than three stories near them.

Haven't noticed a recent change, the left turns are still unnecessarily long and seem to trigger even when there's no one waiting to take them.

Given that we now have rent stabilization on market rate rents of 7-10%, this would basically just make these market rate in perpetuity but with an income limit.

No, I disagree, this is a lie that NIMBYs say, they don't actually support building the housing. The only supporters of housing are non-NIMBYs, trying to win NIMBY support by proposing a different location doesn't work.

It's driver behavior wishcasting to put up a stop here on red sign 150 feet from the light. Either Wall St needs to be made one way eastbound or there needs to be another light prior to the tracks.

This isn't a compromise though, it's a lose-lose.

Building dense housing only on big roads means that dense housing is only ever seen as a thing that sucks.

Building dense housing at all makes NIMBYs angry.

So we get homes that suck with all the NIMBY backlash.

I was shocked to learn in the Seattle Times that Bruce Harrell could have gone to the NFL, but gave up to go to law school instead. With a history of giving up like this, it's hard to believe that he'll fight for us at the first sign of difficulty.

It's not a real plan, and we already have NIMBY backlash at mundane stuff like speed bumps. There will always be backlash, you can't do politics without it.
