Mamdani won campaigning with price controls for essentials.

Harris lost shying away from her own price gouging policy for food.

Trump won fantasizing about bringing prices of essentials down.

Sheinbaum won a landslide controlling prices of essential groceries.
You can't parody the Guardian; the absurdity is already factored in
[I want to go delete my summery b/c it's not great, but that would disrupt the flow, so - IGNORE 😉]
Will have to go look. Yes, Carter was not a good pres. and he had only himself to blame much of the time. He was dithering and micromanaging too - the contrast with Reagan couldn't be plainer! Reagan slept very well just about every night I'm sure
I think Corey Robin also has written about this comparison of Carter to Trump (Trump 1 I think), from a structural point of view, i.e. that Carter was structurally weak b/c New Deal was at an end. Trump likewise presiding over a GOP that has won so much of what it set out to do that it's lost.
It's funny how the tongue and limbs can still twitch after a beheading

Zaxxon burn-in test — Sega kept these cabinets running nonstop for 6–12 hours to make sure only the toughest survived, 1982.
Why does anyone care one way or another whether she's sincere or not. The politics of it matter, not her

A big part of the reason he got away with it is that New York State public corruption laws weren't strict enough to make prosecuting him viable.

We need to change the laws.

Curtis Sliwa says he got offered $10 million to drop out of the race. The person who did that only committed a misdemeanor!
i know he’s fun to laugh at but we really need to start enforcing corruption laws again, and the statute of limitations has absolutely not run out

When a failed software update feels like a spiritual journey...
What is the "inner exception", and where do I find it? How many weeks in a remote mountain monastery does it take to find out? What if I can't see the inner exception, no matter how hard I try?

Don't trust a New York Times reporter. Don't talk to a New York Times reporter. They are the most ambitious journalists on the planet and will do anything to get the story their editor wants. The truth doesn't matter to them, only getting the story their editor wants so they can move up.
heads up to anyone who holds trans kids near: amy harmon from the nyt is searching for and having a hard time finding people to interview to find out exactly what trans kids are doing when their care is limited or cut off, and for purposes of community safety, please shut the fuck up around her.

You surely know more about NY politics than I do, but it does feel a little like an 'all bets are off' moment, there & elsewhere in the US. In NY you have a conservative establishment that is both Democratic and GOP, & I think that is more of an elite project than a reflection of voter's prefs

ICE is like adult daycare for men who enjoy terrorizing actual day cares...
this morning, ICE went into a Spanish language immersion daycare and took a teacher from the building in front of screaming and crying kids and parents at dropoff and the daycare had to shut down for the day (near Lane Tech, where they were yesterday). Really hoping today's "theme" is not "daycare."
Yes! Jeffries is more vulnerable, but Schumer is also. He and Jeffries have been the faces of Dem failure and weakness in this crisis. I think many centrist incumbents are vulnerable (e.g. Coons). BTW Democrats won in Onondaga county (NY) last night for the first time in 50 years. Things change.

tried to spend $10 to buy eggs in Trump's economy but was turned away because I didn't bring my passport
Trump: "It's time for Republicans to do what they have to do and that's terminate the filibuster ... we should start tonight with 'the country's open, congratulations,' then we should pass voted ID, we should pass no mail in voting ... you go to a grocery store, you have to give ID."
Ehhhh..ok. Keep smiling!
Leucovorin update for those who observe...

The CEO of GSK, who last made the product in 1997, confirms they don't plan to do any research on or sell the product for its new autism related indication.

The reapproval was the FDA's idea alone.
