One of my favourite boyhood authors, if favourite is quite the word. A compelling but uniquely disquieting writer.
My top recommendation is A Rag, a Bone and a Hank of Hair (though you may remember Grinny)…

We lose the narrative breathing space, and end up with every episode having to matter (which effectively ends up with nothing mattering as we’ve no perspective on what should or shouldn’t matter).
