do i think the institutional democratic party would do better with a more populist economic message? yes. but there is the problem of getting voters to *hear* it and to *believe* it and that is where i think attention should go.

and because i can imagine the bad faith reading of this, what i am *not* saying is that everything about the extant democratic party is hunky dory other than its total absence of a communications/propaganda infrastructure. what i *am* saying is that this absence puts a hard limit on reaching voters
the democratic party’s basic problem is it has almost no control over how its message reaches the ears of voters, especially outside of presidential election years. but rather than devote serious time, attention and cash to that problem its consultants and pundits want to fight factional battles

one of my core memories is watching my mom sob and scream over the phone because she kept getting denied food stamps despite having a bus driver's income and 5 kids to take care of.

So, when people claim that programs like snap are too easy to abuse it rings really hollow.

Hurricane Melissa is one of the strongest storms in Atlantic hurricane history, and it is about to hit Jamaica. 175 Miles Per Hour as of this morning.

This storm will be devastating for the island.
So much for reading the room I guess.
So he’s gone from “I totally aced the test” to “actually, it was a really hard quiz”? 🫨

Responding to "I did not like Biden's immigration policies" with this is a form of mental illness, by the way.
Not sure where I was going with that, other than that some day I might change something up radically. Until then, I suppose I will keep on keeping on, and hope at least a few people find use and/or enjoyment out of it all.
At 40, youthful angst has been replaced by burgeoning existential angst, and I sometimes worry if I have wasted the last 20 years of my life with this shit. But then I remember most of my friends are online at this point, and that keeps me going.
Guilt about the netlabel not being large enough and not doing physical editions, so larger bands aren't interested. There's guilt about my musical projects, not commercial enough to generate mass appeal and not experimental enough to be noteworthy. Guilt about my blogs not reaching enough eyes.
A thread:

Been dealing a lot of self-doubt recently, especially regarding my creative projects. I knew going in they wouldn't make boatloads of cash, I do sort of wish they were more self-sufficient. It didn't use to be as big an issue, but these days, any extraneous expense could become an issue.
