Nintendo's deal is copying Disney. It's why they tell stories about how Zelda was inspired by Miyamoto exploring caves as a child instead of just copying Tower of Druaga, for instance. It's why they refuse to talk about other studios. They want to lock you in from childhood and create disney adults.

Anyways I visited the Nintendo museum last year- seeing its history in perspective made me realize games are more of a means to an end for them - IP development in the hopes of becoming a Disney. They had some artistic streaks in 80s-00s but I think it's mostly gone now in favor of growing more

I think it deserves credit for somehow appealing to everyone* somehow despite its gameplay style being rooted in older mechanics.
Even my 9 year old plays it just for Esquie. I wouldn’t say it’s my GOTY (I’ve only really been blown away by SHf) but it’s definitely in my top 5.

The PS2 truly is the best console ever because it is constantly becoming more powerful. Each time we say something "looks like a PS2 game" we're talking about a game of a higher fidelity than the last. What the PS2 is capable of in 2025 is so far beyond what it was capable of in 2003. That's amazing
