Today’s the day! @conrad-esq.bsky.social and @joelipsett.bsky.social launch the pod with our first theme: Internalized Rural Homophobia

Up for discussion: aggressive make-outs, casting straight actors in gay roles, that iconic score, and the legacy of BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN within queer cinema circles

@jennferatu.bsky.social and I are giving you a taste of Patreon. If you like this, we’ve got episode by episode breakdowns of all three seasons of MONSTER

Even when I learned the genesis of MADDIE’S SECRET, it didn’t make this unfunny film go down any easier.

@conrad-esq.bsky.social and I discuss the ill-advised TIFF “comedy”
thequeergaze.bsky.social
Our 2nd bonus episode of TIFF is John Early's directorial debut MADDIE’S SECRET, in which the comedian plays a dishwasher who becomes a food influencer, which reawakens an eating disorder rooted in childhood trauma. Has the first-time director bitten off more than he can chew?

I don’t think THE STRANGERS: CHAPTER 2 is terrible, but I’m not sure it’s doing what it needs to do to sell the final film in the trilogy
horrorqueers.bsky.social
Today on Patreon: Put on your sexy underwear and beware of boars because we're back in Venus, Oregon to discuss Renny Harlin's long overdue sequel, #TheStrangers:Chapter2 (2025).

Plus: hospital horror, fish eyed panic attacks, underwhelming flashbacks, and yet more speculation about the finale

I asked @conrad-esq.bsky.social to animate us with TRON helmets for the clips and we’re kinda adorable?

Anyways, go back and listen to our chat about the 1982 film if you’re thinking about this bizarre franchise’s origin

@jennferatu.bsky.social and I debate if the show is villainizing Adeline as we get an episode from her POV.

What do you think?

Today on Patreon: MONSTER 3.05 shifts perspective to focus on Adeline as she makes plans to pursue her dreams in New York City, but the opportunistic girl finds herself out in the cold.

I found #roofman to be an utterly charming romantic dramedy.

Does it wind up doing character rehabilitation for a career criminal thanks to Channing Tatum’s great lead performance? Maybe…but I can’t be mad because his easygoing chemistry with Kirsten Dunst is delightful.
Roofman (2025) Review – A True Crime Crowd Pleaser
There’s an easy going charm to Roofman, the true crime film based on the real life exploits of Jeffrey Manchester.
