Obvious risk for pts, moral distress for EMS and nursing staff who are still onsite, and likely the beginning of the end for many of these communities. Very few people will tolerate zero access to ED and will move to a town with more stable health services

"And now, Alberta is becoming cruel...It tells us that the rich are “job creators” instead of modern-day feudal lords. It convinces us that we should slash the social safety net so that those who need it most are punished for being born poor, disabled or unlucky."

Canada, beware: Alberta is the canary in the coal mine
Canada is not America. Not yet. But if we do not defend our values, compassion, fairness, equality, and truth, we will lose them

New Edmonton Journal op-ed

“Analysis of publicly available data, found no evidence to support Premier Smith’s claim. In fact, the research shows the opposite to be true.

Someone has been receiving more funding & not delivering results—just not AHS.”

Opinion: Attack on AHS reveals the failings of surgery privatization
While politically convenient to blame AHS, responsibility for surgical wait times sits squarely with the government.

Oh I am sorry - it is incredibly difficult to lose a parent, and you are never actually prepared regardless of the circumstances. I hope you find some comfort knowing your mom is no longer suffering.

Lost my dad to PSP 5 years ago and this is the most accurate description I’ve heard. Total asshole disease.

Nenshi on the UCP’s insurance reforms: “I cannot imagine a government coming up with a worse solution to the problem. It’s time for us to think hard about wholesale reform that actually saves Albertans money.”

Agree 100% that none of those things will work…what is needed to get the wheels moving for a recall? I think there are a ton of people who don’t want to wait for 2027 (more after the Harper announcement) but do not know how to make it happen (myself included)

I keep thinking it can’t get worse…and they keep making it worse.

Agreed - but at least they’re (unions) starting to pushback. Maybe the upside of this jackassery is that it’ll finally get more people to pay attention
