It is very telling that MAGA elites do not bother fact-checking even their most outrageous lies. Apparently, they have become so habituated to lying and getting away with their lies that fact-checking is seen as a waste of time. Heck, they could better use that time to tell more lies.

MAGA is acting like a paranoid cult demanding ideological purity rather than like an adult political organization in a democracy. History shows that paranoid cult-like political movements tend to self-destruct when the leader is gone. MAGA now needs Trump like the North Korea regime needs Kim.

"They become violent on the left." Notice he is not just demonizing the 'far left' but the 'left', which to the MAGA far right seems to mean anyone to the left of them politically. The extremist Trump enablers are overplaying the demonizing card. Probably 80% of Americans are to the left of them.

It seems to represent a broadly based collapse in both moral and mental integrity in America in the 21st century. It is most apparent among Republicans but is more widespread than a political party. It must be honestly confronted and addressed or the tragedy of Trumpism will become America's norm.

"His authoritarianism will come for all of us." For some in MAGA, it is a Project 2025 imperative. For others in MAGA, it seems to reflect a deep, dark voracious hunger in their tormented souls for sadistic retribution against their ultimate scapegoats -- their fellow Americans.

One thing scientists might be able to do to partially counter the Trumpian culture of idiocy is band together in communities and start science related clubs with themselves as rotating guest speakers. The battle ahead for America's minds will take ingenuity and commitment.

If Trump now wins a Nobel Prize, it will be assumed it was due to political pressure, thereby devaluing the award, and possibly all Nobel awards in the future. Trump corrupts everything he touches.
