in the lineup & hitting second tonight!

Céspedes couldn't overcome his injuries, sadly. Worth noting that being Cuban (deemed an "import" in LIDOM), he was never going to drive attendance like a Cruz in DR or a Miggy in VZ among the local fanatics.

In honor of #LVBP opening tonight here are #SFGiants random factoids:

1. The all-time HR king (138 HR) is old friend, Eliézer Alfonzo.
2. Barry Bonds played 44 games at age 21 in 1985-86 with #Magallanes hitting 7 HR, 1 3B, 8 2B, w/ 23 RBI
3. Duane Kuiper matched his MLB HR total (1) over 145 games

It absolutely does rule and is somewhat reminiscent of Nelson Cruz's #LIDOM farewell tour in 2023-24, where he played in 5 games, visiting & being honored at every stadium, and casually hit .308 along the way.
¡Viva Miguel Cabrera!

Winter Leagues in Mexico, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic begin today.

While researching a bunch of stuff all day on them I found out that apparently Miguel Cabrera is going to be playing in the Venezuelan Winter League this year and frankly I think that rules.

No idea, Arteaga maybe? As always with these exercises, if there's a team motivated to add him to their roster, "almost nothing" becomes "something" pretty quickly.

And if Luciano doesn't make the team, then they get nothing.
I think they'd obviously prefer a player they can at least stash in AAA until they need him, and moving Adolis, a solid MLB player, should provide that at the very least.

"Prospects" come with minor-league options.
jewelsnbinoculars.bsky.social
I don't think they're going to trade a dude who socked 19 dingers while playing a decent OF for an out-of-options nobody who has never hit a single MLB HR.
jewelsnbinoculars.bsky.social
Why would TEX trade an actual major leaguer (their 7th most valuable last season by bWAR) for a guy with no defensive value, who's never hit in MLB, was below league average in PCL last season, and is out-of-options?

They are one (1) Taylor Swift performance in a White Sox City Connect jersey away from a Wildcard berth.

Next time I bump into a wannbe white nationalist from Idaho I'll be certain to drop the fact that Idaho's most famous resident has a Mexican father and an indigenous (Norhern Arapaho) mother.

The Brewers filled out their 2025 roster for $109.7 million + an additional $12 million
($121.7 million)

Also, the AAV for those three pitchers this season:
$109.7 million

They're going to repeat behind starters who didn't crack 100 IP in the regular season:

Snell (61.1)
Glasnow (90.1)
Ohtani (47)

Logan Webb pitched more innings than those three combined.

Oh yeah, I agree. Just bringing up the OBP to your original point. And while the FO is probably in love with his contact artistry, they also have to understand that his (lack of) defensive profile isn't in harmony with their stated goals of "pitching and defense."

Pavs mentioned him as a possibility, but the Giants have been extremely tight-lipped about who has actually interviewed. Suzuki and Hundley (who reportedly had two) are the only two I've seen confirmed by the press.
