Speaker Johnson has decided to keep the House in recess all through next week. This will be the seventh consecutive week of recess for the chamber. It has not been in session since Sept. 19.

Just in: Sen. Paul Bailey, a Sparta Republican, is urging Gov. Bill Lee to protect families from losing SNAP funds. “This is about Tennessee families,” Bailey said. “Our most vulnerable citizens should not become casualties of Washington's dysfunction."
