It all matters. No one event or action in and of itself will change much, but together they create momentum and effectively begin to push back on the oppression. It's a message that "we're here and we're not going to take this lying down," and that we're actively preparing to take our country back.
Anyone who hasn't seen Andor - if you have access, it is very highly recommended by many who have seen it. It's perfect for what we're currently facing. You don't need to know anything or even particularly like Star Wars to enjoy it.
You need to start linking to people's Bluesky accounts when they post on Bluesky.
This is not cool, and appears to be a habit with The Holler now.

I think everyone knew exactly what point Trump was making dropping shit on Americans.
Q: What does it say that president released a video of him pooping on the American people?

MIKE JOHNSON: You can argue he's probably the most effective person who has ever used social media. He's using satire to make a point. He's not calling for the murder of his political opponents.

And the renovation was carried out by a commission authorized by Congress and staffed with appointees of the president, House and Senate.

The president didn't just ring up a contractor one morning to have them tear things down.

Because it's not the president's goddamn house.
Still, people should show up and vote for their best interest and the benefit of their fellow man.
Show up on good days and bad. Have their backs and be good citizens.
That's on the citizenry, not those elected.
I know our elected Dems aren't perfect, but in general they try to do the right thing under the law and within the parameters of any given time. But they can only do so much to make ppl care. There was no Jasmine years ago when we needed that messaging.
Possibly, but liberal doesn't seem to win very many elections.
If you're not winning elections, then what?
learn that they're a mirage. It's all smoke, mirrors, and bullshit. There is no milk & honey.
Reality is that working together & accepting differences can be uncomfortable, but we can choose to get along and support one another. But we have to show up consistently and support those working for that.
Very much agree. It sucks that we can't see all the info about how bad these types of leaders are and not avoid putting them in power again. I know people from the former Soviet Union who fled to the US who think Trump is awesome. I think humans are attracted to strongmen and have to personally...
They didn't even care about Roe being taken away to vote for Harris. Women were/are dying from Roe being taken away, and people don't seem to care. How do you make them care to vote in their best interests when they don't even care about people dying?
It's not fear of being vilified. It's the very real understanding that the villification will lead to further losses during elections.
People don't pay attention to this stuff, like you said. They should but they don't. They only care when things get bad for them or something they care about.
My sense was that elected Dems took it pretty seriously, but RBG dug her heels in. The conversation about the right's long game w the court has been going on a long time, and Dems who follow politics have always taken it seriously. She made a monstrous error in not retiring. Should have put ppl 1st.
If people would just vote, all of this could be avoided.
Dems aren't perfect by any means, but they generally have the good of the people at heart, and tend to get rid of their own who don't.
have been very risky. If Americans didn't have their back, they would have been vilified for it. Non Republicans almost never have Democrat's back in these matters. Historically people only step up/vote when things get bad, which imo is why we keep plunging further into trouble.
...
They couldn't force RGB to retire. I'm still upset with her for not doing the right thing.
I don't see how they "allowed" it. I agree that they could have tried to expand the court. (Did they have the #s to do it?)
Are you saying they should have done the same to ACB? Possible, but it would...
What does Bibi have to do with this?
Good point, I'll admit.
Republicans would have done it.

It's sad that they put "winning" above the good of the country and their fellow man.
They didn't allow it. They were steamrolled, and there were no legal options that I'm aware of to force the issue.
If there were legal options I'm not aware of, I'll retract.
I think they've dug in to their bunkers. Deep in denial. It will take more destruction and betrayal for any admission of regret, imo.
With none of the approvals he's legally required to obtain.
