Kiko Dinucci started out in hardcore & punk groups

Juçara Marçal started out in an all-female a capella group

Thiago França started out playing samba

Mix them all together & you get Metá Metá, which means “three in one”

They’re also some of my favorite people in São Paulo.

Metá Metá, arguably the most important 🇧🇷 band of the past 25 years, are on Tiny Desk Brasil today, appearing w. Negro Leo, another trailblazer, for the first time.

I've mentioned globalFEST several times in the past. We're in the last day of our Indiegogo campaign, and 75% of the way to financial goal. We'd also like to get 25 more donors, at any level, to demonstrate the breadth of community support.

Pharoah was the 1st jazz legend i saw play in a small room @ Catalina’s in Hollywood, Feb. 1999. On stage, in a dashiki & 🕶️, he filled up the room. His sound was so heavy.

The final time i saw him play, 20 yrs later @ Jazz Middelheim, he didn’t play much but every note counted

Finally catching up with this Siba record, released digitally in September with a different cover. It’s actually a compilation of his annual Carnival releases since 2021, rarities, & archival recordings of his career w. Fuloresta.
