Southern #Sweden during the late Cretaceous. A pair of pteranodontids trying to keep a healthy distance from an admittedly passive mosasaur. Meanwhile, the hesperornithids take a short break from foraging to catch some rays. #paleoart #sciart #scicomm #dinosaurs
A scene from Kristianstad in southern Sweden (the Kristianstad Basin) during the late Cretaceous. A pair of pteranodontids trying to keep a healthy distance from an admittedly passive mosasaur (probably a Prognathodon, but could also be a Tylosaurus). A Once Green Antarctica
The sauropodomorph Glacialisaurus (known from very fragmentary remains) strolls through a dense assemblage of flora at the edge of a forest. The plants are meant to represent Otozamites and Clathropteris. The scene takes place in Early Jurassic Antarctica.

Diesel the Tyrannosaurus
Photo of a gouache painting depicting a Tyrannosaurus rex. His head takes up most of the page, and he's turned almost to face the camera, with his mouth slightly open. He is brown with some red areas.

Published today in Biological Reviews:

"New perspectives on body size and shape evolution in dinosaurs" - the biggest paper from my PhD (my favourite chapter, too).

doi.org/10.1111/brv....

Here's a thread outlining some of our key findings. (1/10)
Cover image promoting the new research paper "New perspectives on body size and shape evolution in dinosaurs", written by Matthew Dempsey, Samuel R. R. Cross, Susannah C. R. Maidment, John R. Hutchinson, and Karl T. Bates, and published in Biological Reviews. Image shows a 3D Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton enveloped in simple geometric hulls, accompanied by an artist's impression of T. rex in life.

Kleptoparasitism. Geosternternbergia, Nyctosaurus and Enchodus. Inspired by the book Oceans of Kansas by Micheal J Everhart and the brown pelicans, magnificent frigate birds and delicious mahi-mahi tacos at my trip to Puerto Vallarta. #paleoart #pterosaurs
A chaotic scene of pterosaurs. A Geosternbergia with an Enchodus in its mouth is absolutely pestered by a flock of Nyctosaurus all trying to steal the fish.
New painting! Featuring the pterosaur Sordes pilosus of late Jurassic Kazakhstan.

Ok, another Mexidracon thread because I find this critter just fascinating.
In our latest stream I tried to illustrate my point further by showing the proposed sediment probing behavior I assume for this animal.

Troodontid in the Snow
Ink, 111 × 149 mm.
Drawing in ink with a very strong black and white contrast. A troodontid -- a bird-like feathered dinosaur -- stands on one leg on a snowy slope with snow-covered vegetation against the night sky peppered with stars, or perhaps gently falling snow.
