Former U.S. Ambassador, retired career Foreign Service officer, still writing that long-delayed biography of Tudor humanist Mildred Cooke Cecil, helped by the cat. Not as diplomatic as I once was.

Translation: We have too many uppity women. We must keep them barefoot and pregnant.
RFK Jr: "When my uncle was president, the fertility rate in this country was 3.5%. Today it is 1.6%. The replacement rate -- in other words the amount of fertility you need to keep your population even -- is 2.1%. We are below replacement. That is a national security threat to our country."
Yet another day for our neighbors in AZ CD-7 to go without representation in Congress.

Seat Adelita Grijalva.
This.
For those who are NOT Feds, make sure you check on your Fed friends. Either we are working for nothing or we are struggling with being on a forced vacation. While there may be advantages, it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.

The fact there’s a man in our White House who constantly expresses his hatred for half of the country and makes clear his desire to strip away programs supported by Democrats should tell millions & millions why they need to be a part of the No Kings protest if they still believe in America.

Trump’s everlasting peace in the Middle East held for 24 hours, so now he has to defend Hamas killing people to keep his Nobel Prize hopes alive.

Go, Kris. Sue him out of his unknowing, unseeing mind.
On behalf of Arizona, I am demanding Speaker Johnson seat Congresswoman Grijlva without delay. We are keeping every option open to us, including litigation, to make sure that Adelita is able to begin her work as Arizona's newest member of Congress.

Trump just bombed six more people in the Caribbean, for a total of 27 civilians who have been killed so far by the US military. It’s illegal for the military to target civilians who do not pose an immediate threat. This is murder.

I remember when Joe Biden traveled to 8 cities for 14 appearances in 9 days after the June debate and then did a 90 minute UN brief but the media still relentlessly hounded him. Where's that media? At a Jake Tapper book talk?

Hey, Colin, finally made it to Glasgow yesterday after all these years and wandered around Sauchiehall St (parts I and II) this morning with your book in hand. (Well, actually on my phone.) City-and book-are marvelous.

The ultimate Know Nothing. This guy is such a loser.
REPORTER: We know the president moved forward with mass layoffs. We're also learning there were significant cuts to staff at special education services. Are you comfortable with those cuts?

MIKE JOHNSON: I haven't seen the specifics of that and I don't know
Hey, Bessent, we had a government, but you and your buddies are in the process of dismantling it, and getting rid of the people who served it-and us-well and faithfully. I can’t imagine you working without a paycheck. Ever.
Bessent: "No Kings means no paychecks. No paychecks and no government."
Sadly predictable. Still, got to hold his feet to the fire.

I personally witnessed this while I was stationed in places like Nicaragua, Haiti, Peru. My colleagues in @steadystatevets.bsky.social have seen it in many other places. Now it is here, and it’s all hands on deck time. The danger is now.
