We need a new cdp browser automation library that:
- is js
- does not auto attach but surgically limits its attach behaviour to minimum
- tries to be as stateless as possible

is there anything out there i am not aware of?

After spending a day with @playwright.dev protocol I am just shocked how bad it uses cdp. It does everything in the worst most greedy and inefficient way that could only ever be useful in a testing environment where you have short lived full browser instances launched for your little task.

Darc now running perfectly in helium browser @wukko.me Its a perfect match, helium as the streamlined minimal browser engine and darc as the maximalist everything browser UI

and im not talking about usability, eg. i can never remember the flags for curl or git, but the inverse is also not true.

the feeling of something a bit bolted together where things fall apart at unexpected places or where it mostly works but it does not feel like you should trust it. (eg. homebrew)

Don't have good examples and its quite fuzzy, sorry. Don't you know this feeling of using a solid, well build, responsive piece of software where the error modes make sense, the behaviour is usually how you would expect and you feel like its something you can rely and build on (eg. curl) vs.

im genuinely interested, im sure in the cases where its great i dont even see its ruby or python so i only see things like github, homebrew or dvc, dagter etc.

just as in great software. fun to use, failure modes that make sense, assumptions that make sense. feel like properly build. feel like not obvious they would have been much better if done another way. feel like the language and runtime are not a "thing" that is always in the way.

Is there anything ever created in python or ruby that is "good"?

This is as far as computing should have ever been allowed to get.
A photo oof a Macintosh SE on a Macintosh Table, a wooden stylised kind of 80s looking table, with a glass vase of blue purple (irises?), external drive, mousepad and a pen & writing folder next to it, and an actual clock. to the lower left is a cabinet attached to the inside of the desk with books, probably real manuals, standing up in it. The whole scene is in front of a stonewashed denim looking photographic backdrop.

The Macintosh Quadra 605 Connection Machine had the prettiest insides of any Apple machine, but was hidden inside the case of a barely upgradeable machine.

It's estimated only nine people ever got to see the CM040's blinkenlights.
A photo of a closeup of a CPU on a logic board. The CPU is dark with a frosted dark translucent cover that shows rows of registers and such as dotted red lights shining through.

Isn't it crazy there were no stories of billionaires who had an email client or browser custom built just for their liking? They do that with yachts but use gmail like everyone else?

@notwes.bsky.social Exciting to see first falcor commits in years, what is the current status of usage at netflix? I think im still the last active user and would love to keep it alive. Especially now that the industry hysteria about graphql is over it might be time for a revival?

Especially the reel like formats that start playing until just before something happens? I don't think i would ever want to open a video except for maybe a 20 min + watch. Just let me play in the feed.
