A Hall visitor this morning confidently told me there's 'a big problem' with 'all the migrants' who are 'eating all the swans'. It took every fibre of tact I possess to explain this is bollocks without inadvertently implying she was a gullible idiot who shouldn't be allowed access to the internet.

But...but....but surely his explanation is the exact opposite of what actually happens? It's not that we pronounce an 'r' in Shaun but that we *don't* pronounce one in shorn. (With the possible exception of Cornwall and Devon). I have never heard Shaun (or Sean) pronounced Shorrn.

I have become a huge fan of Dulux 'Easycare washable and tough' in my most recent redecorating. Just a pity it wasn't around when I had children/teenagers.

At the end of the summer season Cheltenham Lido drains down the pool and re-fills for winter cold water swimming. But before that, they open it to dogs for the weekend. It's Mabel's favourite day of the year.
