I mean I still buy as many records but not as many from the year I’m living through at the time if that makes sense. The internet offers too many distractions into the past for that to be the case now i think. Never used to get lost for weeks on end listening to early/mid 60s Blue Notes for example

Still buy a lot of music of course but I was looking at the shelves other day & late 90s/early 00s was my real time buying peak & it dwarfs all other eras (Discogs tells me I have 85 CDs/vinyl from 1997 - aged 16/17) so I think there’s truth to this. I also still feel huge attachment to a lot of it
