Things I have been thinking about lately
Sweater progress. I think this one might actually get done before the weather changes.
How hard work, value, process, and performance get all tangled up with consumption, capitalism, and art on social media. Do you think performance makes the object and process interchangeable? Will we no longer care about the product of the work when the work is what we consume?
When the method becomes the work, does work become meaningless?
Creatives perform labor for free for the masses.

“My fascination with inflatable structures began when I realized how absurd, tender, and unstable they could be—all at once,” artist Rong Bao says.

How do you trust the process when you don't trust yourself?

Fear of failure often prevents us from attempting the things we desire most.

if your man:

- always soothes you when you're anxious
- likes to hang out at your favorite record store
- has dreamy ambient pads
- plays at 172bpm

that's not your man, that's a liquid drum n' bass record from 1996.
I haven’t finished the hanging design at the top… still pondering how I want this to hang.

Approx. 24” W x 34” H
I mostly used meet and separate, which I think made it go faster, but I ended up having to sew so many slits afterward that I’m not sure I’d do it again like that. I used the interlocking method in the pixelated part.

I learned SO MUCH by making this and I am very happy with the result.
The design is inspired by a large set of AI outputs I created by feeding AI with my drawings and asking it to get weird and chaotic in the results. Then I drew the design on my iPad, printed it out in sections and taped it all together.
Here is my second large weaving, completed in March. This one took me a lot less time (~3 months) and I worked from a very simple cartoon outline and added all the colors and details as I went.
Does anyone know how to get a Meta Account Manager for a Business? I have a serious issue with a biz account and I am unable to get help through the standard chat and support. I would appreciate any referrals / help 🙏
We’re moving away from the Attention Economy and toward the Intimacy Economy, where we will value the quality of our followers, where we allow for more vulnerability. Will this new Economy bring us back together IRL?

A year ago, nearly to the day @jaimederringer.bsky.social nailed a major paradox (there are many) for artists i think #artistdilemma
I'm excited to share my newest weaving but I decided not to post any process photos before it's done. I think it will be done some time in April! It's probably going to be about 24" x 30". I tried a lot of new things in this piece.
I still have some sticker sheets available in my Etsy shop: www.etsy.com/listing/1154...
I still check the others, but much less frequently. I peek at IG daily at some artist stories/posts then bounce, or, I post something and then bounce. Most of the time I can unhook myself pretty quickly. For me, there is still value to staying on the platforms.
Making Substack my most used social network/platform has dramatically improved my mental health, doomscrolling, and restored my much-needed critical thinking. My attention span has started to improve, too.
