Fair. My old library disposed of a collection and we sold it to a dealer who picked out the best stuff and sold the rest to fuller sight unseen (probably for more than the dealer gave us for the whole thing)

When I got out of library school in 2005, everybody said your library had to have a second life site—they even had like second life ala annual. And I was like “are you fucking kidding me?”

Was this Princeton theological seminary? I can’t think of anyone else with enough money to consider such a thing (then again construction budgets are weird; I got a $600+ desk chair but could not get a replacement for my 10 year old computer)

The seeds were all there in 2004: disdain for the rule of law, rejection of electoral legitimacy (for Dems), the racism. Maybe they weren’t sieg heiling, but they were waiting for permission. And institutional republicans worked hard to set the stage for Trump to give them the permission

It’s cynical, situational politics in which something is good or bad predicated on whether it hurts whoever they want the hurt at the moment. Eg. they love Jews when it’s a means to hurt “liberal” colleges and they hate them when it’s a means to hurt immigrants
