How many different cities does the US have? By which I mean, for example: I think it's pretty easy to establish that Pittsburgh is a Chicago, and that SF, Seattle, and Portland are all just different reified aspects of a single city

Every day in this country there's a headline like "great news everyone, California just banned the use of orphan slaves for coal mining!" which is good but makes you wonder why we didn't ban that earlier

California just banned employers from forcing workers to pay a debt, fee, or penalty to leave their job.

Bosses have increasingly been trapping workers with debts incurred in training and other exploitative fees.

Now that's illegal in the nation's biggest state.

I genuinely don't understand what Eric means when he says "we are saving God" but I don't think it would be too much of a stretch to say that it is an entirely foreign concept in the history of the faith.

Human beings are given a beautiful opportunity to join with God in this mission by living lives of love and conscience, by being willing to lay down our lives for each other, but regardless of any person's participation the world will be saved.

I wouldn't necessarily call myself a Christian anymore but the most appealing version of Christianity I learned growing up was a version that was unstoppable. God is going to save the world and everyone in it, and there is nothing that can stop that salvation. We don't "save" God, he saves us
