a lot of people want to read Trump and team's fossil fuel obsession as being about *money* but while there is of course a corruption element, it's primarily pure culture war stuff. even many of the big fossil fuel companies want to get into renewables because it's so obviously the future.
Coal production and employment in Wyoming has steadily been declining, much like the rest of the industry in the US.

Coal is a dead industry.

Autism is a natural divergence from neurotypicality. It's normal & not the tragedy these clowns are making it out to be.

Just deal with people being different than you.

Remembering today when pro-GOP media erupted with outrage over Kamala Harris' warning that Trump had plans to militarize the national guard and deploy them on the streets of US cities. Indeed, he had such plans. And now he's implementing them.

All of the lessons that The Biggest Loser taught—from disordered eating to ruthless self talk—all of that came because we culturally thought it was beneficial & entertaining to abuse fat people. Anti-fat bigotry was the spoonful of sugar that helped the medicine go down. It was a feature, not a bug.

Record profits should mean record pay. For ALL workers.
Didn't think the Dystopia we are in was the Unwind series by @scottwesterfeld.bsky.social but I do believe I just heard our government refer to roving bands of criminal teens they want to legally class as adults so they can get harsher punishment-including death penalty.
Just finished Jade Legacy and @fondalee.bsky.social I have never once cried more when reading a book in my entire life. I cried a total of 14 times. And once for about an hour while I kept reading.

Bravo.

My least popular (and most correct) view is that cars should be automatically limited to the local speed limit. Put the pedal to the floor and you still can't go over 25mph in a residential area.

(15 in Manhattan btw)
There is no possible justification for limiting e-bikes to 15mph but not cars.
New York Has a New E-Bike Speed Limit—and No Way to Enforce It
I love horror, books and movies, but yall I hate jump scares so bad.

Woe betide the people who craft the jump scares. Im wishing that you would stub your toe and that they always get your order wrong at McDonalds

A growing body of research shows that Gen Z and millennials not only use libraries more than older Americans, but they also depend on them.

Young people are utilizing libraries for job hunting, academic support, mental health resources, and as a place to feel safe and connected.
The Library Generation: Why Gen Z and Millennials Need America to Fund Libraries Now
Despite the digital age, younger generations are turning to one of America’s oldest institutions: the public library

1. The extra marginal tax rate will affect millionaires' daily lives almost not at all, which is why in reality none of them would leave the state.

2. When you have this much money, your accountant/financial folks are already making you as tax efficient as possible.

Not fleeing: New report shows more wealthy residents in Mass., 2 years into 'millionaire's tax'
Despite previous concerns, Massachusetts' "millionaire's tax" hasn't seemed to deter high-earners from continuing to live here, according to a new study from the Institute for Policy Studies.

Obviously, a huge part of the Columbia shakedown is about conservative angst over admissions, but they're also shaking down George Mason, which accepts 90% of its undergraduate applicants. Much like with USAID, they think that if they find the right button, they can simply turn liberalism off.

Food constantly shows up as a gateway drug to dangerous vaccine narratives. "If you can't pronounce it, don't eat it" got applied to vaccine liposome ingredients during COVID to spread fear. Folks in the food & nutrition space need to be vigilant about the thinking/messaging that gets normalized
Often don't like mafia-ish books, and I thought it was going to prevent me from enjoying the Green Bone Saga.

But let me tell ya--give Fonda Lee some pages she'll get you there. 1/3 of the way through Jade City and I've gone from dreading picking it up to getting choked up about clan oaths.

Nobody is “forcing” you to check out books you don’t want to read at a library.

But people are forcing libraries to keep you from checking out books.

Absolutely no one’s forcing anyone to buy queer books they don’t want to buy, but quite a lot of people with a lot of power are literally banning queer books from libraries, bookstores, curricula, so maybe fuck all the way off with this slimy hand-wringing bullshit & fix your fucking hearts
