“Gaza needs leadership called in by the people themselves, not appointed from the outside,” Sundos Fayyad, a journalist in Gaza, told me. “Rebuilding what’s been destroyed may be impossible, but any future worth living begins with that right for representation.”

BRILLIANT article by Mohammed R. Mhawish:
“Survival is the most meagre inheritance. To call us resilient is to praise the caged bird while ignoring the cage’s latch. Surviving destruction is not the same as defeating it. There’s cruelty in this praise.”

Gaza’s Broken Politics
Every movement that claimed to speak for Palestinians has failed them. The next chapter must belong to those who have endured the devastation.

Congratulations on having your husband murdered? This is a little strange. It doesn’t really bother me, but it just seems a little odd.

Disgusting. But it tracks, one racist giving an award to another. She is SO performative to me. WHY does she only ever dab her left eye with her right hand? Doesn't her other eye cry?? (Watch the back-to-back videos. Watch Trump's face.)

Dictators have fan boys too

Yeah every nation should have a politician who calls for their own country to be sanctioned / militarily overthrown...

Who needs elections when you can be installed by foreign powers.

That is to say, not is the day. I hate autocorrect! When it interacts with my dyslexia, bad things happen.

I still can’t figure out whether I liked it or not. I definitely need to see it again. One thing for sure: it didn’t work as a comedy for me. That is the day, it didn’t make me laugh much. But that doesn’t mean it is not an excellent film. It’s quite possible that I just didn’t get it yet.

“Uttering, promoting, and in some cases even tolerating anti-Israel rhetoric that crosses the line into anti-Semitism does double damage,” @ibishblog.bsky.social argues: both fueling violent attacks and tarring the pro-Palestinian movement.
Anti-Semitism Is Poison for the Palestinian Cause
No good will come to the pro-Palestinian movement from any association with violent attacks.

Important and urgent:

“Uttering, promoting & in some cases even tolerating anti-Israel rhetoric that crosses the line into anti-Semitism does double damage: It can help fuel violent attacks & it creates the impression that the broader Palestinian & pro-Palestinian community supports such action.”

I was very glad to write this article and I hope people pay attention to it. It’s very important.

Exactly right

One point that Hussein Ibish makes is that pro-Palestinian advocacy should avoid ambiguous slogans that have both good and bad meanings. I disagree with this.

Beethoven's 9th is a symbol of Nazi evil, but that did not prevent the European Union from rightly choosing its famous theme as its anthem.

Truly it was a magical experience for two young teenagers from Ain Mreiseh in Beirut. Never to be forgotten. That’s why I just took my eleven-year old boy to see David Byrne at The Anthem In DC a few days back, 6th row, center. Such opportunities are rare. Carpe diem!

Lishay’s last post before putting the girls to bed:

“For two years now, every night we go out under the moon and say, "Good night, Daddy Omri," hoping he hears, hoping he feels.
Today, for the last time.

Tomorrow, Roni and Alma will say it to Daddy himself 🎗️ “

María Corina Machado is a deeply inspiring leader.

He is our Prime Minister and Trump is our king. The king isn’t interested in policy or anything substantive. He just wants to pomp and glory. This guy wants to make all the decisions and he’s doing so, without taking any of the big splashy moves.

1. Today, I have a few things to say about that putz Stephen Miller. First, he’s been on TV a lot lately, because that’s how he pours more poison into the president’s already-poisoned brain.

I couldn’t figure out if I liked it or not. It just seemed really weird to me. I need to see it again. The jury is still out as far as I’m concerned.

It’s a very beautiful song, but I don’t think Robert Plant writes very good lyrics. Jimmy Page, however, really wrote a beautiful piece of music in that case. There are a few live bootleg versions, and I can’t even find the one I like the best anywhere anymore, that are just gorgeous.
