What better way to spend Halloween than at the Dickens Museum experiencing a pair of the author’s own creepy tales superbly told by @jamescswanton.bsky.social His physicality and use of lighting added extra dimensions to the text. Thoroughly recommended.
Hollow out your mangelwurzels and show off your Punkies.

Who needs pumpkins. Be careful though. You may need power tools to carve these root vegetables.

Despite selling out our entire run in York, London sales for THE SIGNAL-MAN & THE TRIAL FOR MURDER are still a bit slow. We've got six showings between 31st October and 2nd November. A very classic Halloween treat, I'd argue - and in Charles Dickens's (probably definitely haunted) house!

For years, there's been a massive over-emphasis on food miles, and a massive under-emphasis on food type.
By far and away the best dietary decision you can make, for environmental, humanitarian and public health purposes, is to cut out animal products.
I’ve been listening to David Boulter’s Whitby album a lot, especially on public transport. It helps to distract me from all the TikTok videos on speaker phones and transports me back beside the abbey after a brisk walk up the coast from Boggle Hole.

On a cramped coach heading to Somerset for the weekend listening to David Boulter’s Whitby LP while reading @paulmagrs.bsky.social Dracula! It’s making me want to change course and head to the north east coast for a fish supper. Paul captures the personalities of the original TARDIS crew perfectly.
Happy Friday early evening in the spooky month of October. Off to see a theatrical production of Dracula. Which reminds me I still need to purchase a copy of Dracula!

I’m sad to hear the news that the wonderful Jane Goodall is no longer in the world. Her work with chimpanzees at Gombe in Tanzania taught us to look at other apes - and ourselves - differently. I was privileged to meet her later in life and tell her what an inspiration she was to me.

Keir Starmer's aides are reportedly telling him not to go to the COP30 climate conference, because Reform would attack him for it.
Yes, they might.
And he should wear it as a badge of honour.
Standing up for humanity, for science and a habitable planet.
Where's the hazard in that?

BREAKING: ABC has announced it is pulling Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show off the air “indefinitely” to censor the host after comments he made Monday night about the "MAGA gang" doing everything to claim Charlie Kirk's alleged assassin was "anything other than one of them."

Here is the clip:

Delightful to see Tommy Ten Names' Stone Island Guild sweep through BFI Southbank today. I'm sure this was integral to having a dump.

The far right has been legitimised by Labour, Conservatives and Reform and all those journalists and channels that have either failed to hold them to account or actively supported them - meanwhile, international law has been eviscerated - the weak, the cowardly and the greedy have succeeded
Well that was intense.

(Seeing the Harold Pinter #AssociatedRediffusion dramas at the #bfiSouthbank last night and witnessing the devastation left in the wake of the far right thugs passing through Waterloo on Saturday night).
