What better way to spend Halloween than at the Dickens Museum experiencing a pair of the author’s own creepy tales superbly told by @jamescswanton.bsky.social His physicality and use of lighting added extra dimensions to the text. Thoroughly recommended.

The performance was conducted in a different room on the first floor with even more atmospheric lighting. Pity about the crass noisy Halloween party taking down the street playing completely inappropriate and music, but this did not phase James one jot or spoil the atmosphere.

I’m sad to hear the news that the wonderful Jane Goodall is no longer in the world. Her work with chimpanzees at Gombe in Tanzania taught us to look at other apes - and ourselves - differently. I was privileged to meet her later in life and tell her what an inspiration she was to me.
